Transfer from Okie State, Tatum Compton
Posted on 7/31/23 at 2:21 pm to WFT
Tatum Clopton
2023 (Redshirt): Sustained an off-season injury and did not play.
2022 (Freshman): Appeared in six games in her first year at Oklahoma State, both as a hitter and as a pitcher ... Made her first collegiate pitching start against California Baptist on February 12 at the Kajikawa Classic ... Fanned five batters and allowed two hits, two walks and zero earned runs in five innings of work – all of which are career bests – en route to the first win of her OSU career ... Appeared as a reliever in games against LSU and South Florida at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational and fanned a batter in each of those appearances ... Logged at-bats at Memphis on March 10 and against Texas Tech on March 27.
High School: A unanimous top-graded high school talent from Free State High School in Lawrence, Kansas ... Named the No. 7 overall prospect in the nation by FloSoftball, ranked No. 10 among pitchers in the Extra Inning Softball 2021 Extra Elite 100 and voted No. 11 overall by Softball America … Awarded 2021 All-Sunflower League Player of the Year … Twice named the Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year (2019-20 and 2020-21) … Earned first-team All-State honors in 2018, 2019 and 2021 ... Played club softball for the DeMarini Aces.
Personal: Daughter of Aaron Clopton Sr. and Sarah Clopton … Her mother, Sarah Clopton, pitched at the University of Kansas and was selected to the 1999 All-Big 12 first team ... Pursuing a degree in psychology with a pre-law emphasis.

Not quite the transfer pitcher we wanted from Oklahoma State.
Posted on 7/31/23 at 3:13 pm to LSUJockStrap
Seems like we are gambling because we need some type of depth here
Posted on 7/31/23 at 3:21 pm to Tigerbait357
Seems this will only make Chafin, Strood and Casanova maybe consider transferring during next portal oppo

I do hope Beth manages her pitchers better. Sometimes a game out of hand and she leaves the starter in instead of letting a another pitcher get some experience. Also, when playing a lesser opponent use your weaker one; you can always bring in a stronger one if off to a bad start. That goes for position players too. It's a bit more work on coaches but it may help in the future.
Anyone know what was Tatum's injury

It remains to be seen if she is better than any of them. If she isn't it likely doesn't matter IMO.
But it looks like our pitching this year will come down to mostly Berzon and Lynch. Hopefully Chaffin can develop more this offseason and give more quality innings. Casanova is someone who will never start but could give an inning here or there from the pen.
But next year literally is the year for Beth. After that we lose Pleasants, Briggs, Coffey, Newland, Carson, Lynch, Gutierrez. It will be a bit of a rebuild losing that much production in a single offseason...

Wonder how many coaches in the country have been to 4 WS? Who you would replace Beth with? Don't say Patty because there is less than 0% that would happen..

Lol. “Who would you replace Les Miles with?” all over again.

JT over Beth? That's funny..she is an elite coach..only a few in her class nationally

The tea leaves over here say that LSU got the only pitcher that we're going to get from Oklahoma State.

Well damn...still a great roster with a very good ws chance
Posted on 8/1/23 at 10:54 pm to Casualobserver1985
Elite means the best. Elite coaches don't miss OKC 5 straight seasons. I'm not suggesting her firing, but don't tell us she is elite.

Who is elite? Patty yes, who else? just curious..Also how many active coaches have taken their teams to 4 WS?
Posted on 8/1/23 at 11:14 pm to Casualobserver1985
These are the elite programs:
Oklahoma
Washington
Florida State
Alabama
Florida
Tennessee
UCLA
The list is short and it should be. I wouldn't put Oklahoma State there yet. This is off the top of my head, so I could be forgetting someone. Keep in mind, if we did this just 2 years ago, you could include Michigan, Georgia and Arizona, all who had long time elite coaches retire.

UCLA coach missed ws for 4 straight years in her 17 yrs guess she can't be elite..Florida is a downward slide..gradually but sliding. Bama was gifted a ws last year but sliding..lets see where they are post Fouts..not really talked about in the travel scene...Weekly was on the warm seat until this yr...Oklahoma is elite..No way would I rather have Walton, Tarr, Murphy or KI over Beth..

I didn't say I would take all those coaches over Beth, but the programs are elite. UCLA won a national championship in 2019. Florida and Bama are sliding, but LSU is not? Ummm, ok.
