Deal seems like a decent pitcher but maybe not as high a talent as we'd like to see. Like several players, she seems to be lights out in high school but looking at her travel ball team she seems to be the 3rd pitcher in rotation. Asked a couple of travel ball parent friends familiar with her because their kid plays 16U travel, and looked at the team's Gamechanger and she was not the first option on that team and her team was a 16U team--not 18U team. But the is a LA resident so this very well may have been a low money--low risk approach here.

I think the program has been burned a couple of times with recruits who were all-world in high school ball where competition is far less stout than in high level travel ball. If she didn't cost us much, maybe an okay move but she is not one of the high level arms the top schools are chasing.

Some of those pitchers I'm aware of:

--Sophie Bordi--OU already nabbed this one (top level 18U team w/Batbusters Stith)

--Mallie West--??--(top level 18U team w/Hotshots National Jones)

--Pressley Harrison--?? (high level 18U team with Bombers Lewis--formerly GA Impact)

--KG Favors--??--(high level travel team but 16U division)

--Lisabella Dimitrivejc--??--(high level 18U team with Illinois Chill)

--Kiera Crosby--??--(high level travel team but 16U division)

LoL @LSUJockStrap. It's the optimist in me. But yes, we do seem to fall for the HS super hero who doesn't have the same results in high level travel ball only to reflect just that when they arrive. I'm not the expert so I tend to defer, and I hate speaking negatively of these kids. They have so much pressure on them already, but it is what it is.

There were 3 recruits there this past weekend. Very familiar with 1, somewhat familiar with 1 and know nothing of the last.

*One was Hannah Wells from OK. Two-way player who swings a big bat and is a solid pitcher but not one of the most elite. She hits better than she pitches, but would be a solid add to the program. But Extra Innings has her ranked in the Top 5 of the 2025 class (Top 16 with the ties).

*Taelyn Holley is another that was there and she is a very good player. From CA. Played on a very good 16U travel ball team and was one of their best players. Outfielder with a good glove and solid bat. Tied for 3rd in Extra Innings (top 11 with the ties).

*Sophi Lundstrom I don't know but she is from TX. Think she is a catcher. Not ranked, but was told she plays for a Bombers team in Texas.

LSU Football is away facing Miss State (& they need to get it together) this weekend so probably no recruiting visits scheduled.

Morrison is one of the very best players in the entire class. Getting her out of TN may be difficult though

Good middle infielder with solid bat with pop. But we need pitching!!!

Only Alea Johnson, freshman pitcher last year transferred to Alabama

No one else has transferred from the LSU softball team except for Alea Johnson.
