Bryce Neal new assistant coach, from Louisville, sounds like more of a hitting coach background.
Now if Dobson moves on Beth can hire a pitching coach.

Thanks for the news. I wonder if we will get any transfers tied to him in any way

No one in the portal from Louisville of quality, not to say he does not have other connections.

We are screwed. We need the best pitcher available. Are there any on that list that are better than what we have? We also need a power hitter(s) and a 2b. Are there any?

There are three or four players that may be worth the investment required to give scholarships or NIL to come to BR. We have many players that are better than many on that list also. You dont just go spend money willy nilly just to say you played in the portal IMO. This year the portal is not nearly as good due to COVID years rolling off many players. Keep in mind only 38% of the players entering the portal last year found a spot to land. So 62% took off the cleats for good.

The portal closes for entry on June 28th, for spring transfers. So if something is going to happen it will take place soon.
Relying on one pitcher to throw the bulk of your innings will be risky. Most teams have gone to situational pitching with 3-4 arms. Many with two elite starters.
Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee have been very active remains to be seen if that translates to wins on the field next spring. Many teams are addressing their needs knowing Oklahoma and Texas will compete right away.
Hopefully, Coach Neal can bring in a couple of players. LSU loses a lot of talent next spring, so this could be a turning point for the program.

Louisville had two big sluggers hit the portal but are SEC bound to other schools
-Korbe Otis (All American) to Florida (.414 BA, 8 double, 7 triples and 10 HRs)
-Sarah Good (ACC freshmen of year) to Georgia (.379 BA, 12 doubles, 2 triples and 10 home runs)
But LSU needs to focus on finding another pitcher from the portal. I'm assuming Beth is attempting to get Lexi Delbrey again (Florida transfer) but she has not lived up to her recruiting hype since HS days

IF pitching hasn’t been the same since their pitching coach left for Oklahoma State. Perhaps she can be coached up. Beth is pretty decent at coaching up pitchers. Not on the Yvette level but decent.

I guess the feeling was no room for sluggers here, huh? With Newland hopefully FT LF Briggs and Redoutey in the OF, no room there. No slugger at !B. We need a 2B. okay at SS & 3B. Question Mark at C Carson injury/Bergeron readiness for SEC. Other than Berzon, no pitching you can really count on. Looking bleak for 24.

Those are pretty good numbers.
Wonder why she’s transferring?

Believe it is grad school related
Lots of kids have to go to other schools due to difficulty getting into a particular grad program at current school or the school doesn't offer what they are trying to do.
The last of the 5th years are next season so after that it will be back to normal.

Maybe Deangelo put in a good word for us.
She hasn't had a great career after being a big recruit out of HS. Maybe it goes different if the Auburn stuff never happens. But she's a capable #2 option and bridge until Heavener.

Finally some good news and a sign that we are trying. Hopefully more to follow. Thanks for the update

I think we still need another reliable pitcher if we want any shot of staying competitive this season.
Chaffin just hasn’t lived up to the expectation. she’s had moments of greatness, such as the Alabama game last year, but other than that, she hasn’t proven herself to be someone we can count on. also
with Strood and Casanova yet to show anything that proves they are capable of being successful in the SEC, that leaves Berzon and Lynch to try and lead this team deep into the post season, which if that’s the case a lot of work will need to be out in during the off-season.
I wish Beth would have given Johnson a lot more opportunities this year because I think the lack of playing time is what ultimately made her enter the portal and head to Tuscaloosa. to me, she showed real promise.
I know it’s a long shot, with every major program vying for her, but Vawter from Stanford would be a game changer for this team next year if they could somehow pull it off and bring her to BR.
for me the ideal SEC pitching rotation would be a high strikeout pitcher (Vawter) to take over Friday nights, Berzon to pitch Saturdays, and then start Lynch and have Berzon/Vawter type pitcher come in as relief if needed for Sundays.
