Oh! So Aleah can do another dismount. I see no reason to not train a full pirhouette into that double tuck as her dismount next year. Would that clear hip into a double tuck be enough in NCAA?

Your video is incomplete, she did indeed have a fall. Here is a link to the complete video:

Nevertheless, great accomplishment qualifying to worlds! Congrats Aleah!

Aleah can do other dismounts as well. I think they need to adjust her dismount for next season. Her bars are golden beyond that

I think we did see a lot of improvement with Jay this year; hopefully he’ll give up on e bar dismounts for those who can’t do them without significant routine deduction (aleah, Alyona) and allow for a connected dismount like the one she performs here. She looks very comfortable with the hip circle + double tuck.

Jay came around a lot at the end of the year with some routine construction, especially those 2 pass floor routines. I’m convinced it’s the entire reason we even got to Nationals (Bryant needing a 9.95 on FX) and part of the reason we made 4 on the floor.

RE: BigB0882

There isn't sound on the event but both vaults can be seen! Yuro 1 1/2 and her NCAA vault this past year.

Her 1.5 vault looked the best IMO

And for her purposes in elite, worth way more D score wise

Aleah won the Bronze on beam. She had a great floor but did not make the podium. Emma Malabuyo won the silver. Her routine was good but IMO Aleah's had more difficulty and was well performed. Perhaps there was a missing requirement in the routine.

Congrats to Aleah and Emma!! I am also confused about floor, because Aleah’s seemed a lot more difficult. Would love to know why her routine scored lower.

What was the D value for each in elite code?

I read that if Aleah swapped her 2nd pass and 3rd pass that it would give her a .2 boost in D score. Not sure it is really worth much as she is not vying for world medals but it could make a difference in meets like these.

I saw a critique of Aleah's floor on youtube and if it is accurate, she had little deductions such as flexed feet and missed 180 leaps that made the difference in her score. Her presentation was superb. I wouldn't think that could be improved anymore.
I heard her say in an interview that competing in the Asian Championships was a last minute decision. That would not have left much time to prepare the routines with Elite requirements and polish.

LSU gymnastics adds graduate transfer Jillian Hoffman. The graduate transfer has spent the past four seasons at the University of Utah, where she was a leader on and off the floor. She competed on vault and floor.

My hope has been that Myia Hambrick would someday return to LSU as one of the coaches. She would be a great asset but for now, Congrats to Myia on her promotion to Assistant Coach at Utah.

Savannah announced that she was transferring to LSU in May but it wasn't made official until a day or so ago. We are excited to have her. She is a great talent!
