Also, I think with everything going on with her in terms of her NIL, she is further behind than some others, so this likely makes sense here as well. Also, her dismount has been wonky, so I am curious to see what depth we have there (though I know it’s our least deep apparatus).

I think that could be a great opportunity to actually build depth on bars. Jeffrey, Tatum and Cowan obviously have the talent, but they won't mean depth until they get some competition time. We need to use them before we end up preseason with only 4 or 5 trustable bar workers. And if needed in postseason, Dunne should be able to pull it off just fine.

Will start the meet thread later on so don't post here during it!

Coming in, was Dunne expected to be a standout? Make several lineups? If so, is her NIL status the reason she’s barely a backup now? I don’t anything about her gymnastics prior to LSU, but I thought she was supposed to be a huge get for us.

Olivia had quite a successful elite career prior to LSU, having competed internationally for the U.S. as a junior gymnast. She was, in the eyes of many, one of the most talented juniors in the nation. She has struggled with some injuries since turning senior in 2018 and eventually dropped back to level 10 after signing with LSU. She had a decent 2020 season, but no one expected her to be a standout in college (maybe bars and beam?). I think the hype around her coming in was already more about the millions of followers on TikTok than her actual gymnastics. Then the NIL thing happened and she took off, so..

Can someone explain Doggette’s vault score? That score is impossible for that landing.

Florida had some home cooking last night with a 197.75. That's a "back side" of the season score. Guess they will be in the 198 range soon.

Yes, I mean if they already throwing tens for Trinity, the fix is in. I know trinity is a beautiful gymnast but man, I am ready for her to go. These 5th year Covid years are killing us.
Also, apparently the Livvy fans created like a real security issue outside the Utah stadium last night. I wonder if there comes a time where she has to choose between the fame and continuing gymnastics. It’s not her fault, but I feel like her level of fame brings constant distraction and perhaps breeds jealousy across the team.

Yeah that’s crazy. Some of the comments are killing me. People really out here blaming Livvy.

This is just fans perception. Her teammates love Livvy. Everyone blamed the super seniors for last season. Now I guess this board is moving on to Livvy

I still stand by my initial statement that it is still too early to pass judgment on her final pass, worry about it, and have her change it.
I still stand by my statement about Haleigh’s final pass, especially after last night’s meet. In 2021 we were in SLC for regionals and she fell twice on that pass. Last night she proved that the altitude was not an issue for her on that pass and even slightly over rotated it so she could dance out of it. The Huntsman center had the same altitude challenge as the Maverick Center from 2021 and it proved not to be an issue for her last night and at Gym 101. This will arguably be the toughest meet of the year in terms of oxygen intake on floor and she handles it perfectly. So I still think it’s too early to complain about the pass and pass judgement on it and ask for it to be changed after one meet, but I also will be watching it closely for weeks to come

The quality of the final session of the Super 16 blew me away. Oklahoma has stepped it up on floor. Their choreography is excellent and more in sync with the music this year. Love Audrey Davis’ routine. UCLA’s floor routines are very fun and are going to score 9.9+ on entertainment value alone. I was surprised Auburn was scored fairly decent compared to last year. If not for beam, Michigan would have been much closer to OU.
Btw….LSU could have really used Selena Harris. Hard pill to swallow.

To be clear, I am not blaming her. I more just wondered about it because it seems like a situation that could cause some issues in a group of a young women. I am glad to know it isn’t.

Well, the Road to Nationals has the current standings. Oklahoma's score is unreal for this time of the year. I hope the scoring at Kentucky will not be as it was at UTAH,

Just saw the Selena Harris routines from her first meet. She's going to be a star. We could have really used her - great power on vault and floor but really polished on bars and beam too.

So if they are going to ding kj on directioninality (is that a word?) then we should definitely have her do the 1.5. I feel like if we don’t see it by the 3rd or 4th meet we won’t see it once again. And with us losing kiya and alonya after this season it would really help out to see kj and Bryce with 1.5’s. I don’t think this is the year we win national so we need to start preparing, to a point, for next season. I’m sure I will get some hate for this but oh well. I’m starting to get discouraged with Jay.

I would have loved to have Selena but she seems to fit in really well with the bruin girls.

I too am starting to get discouraged with Jay - this year is a real make or break year for him (for me) at least. He seems to be a great AC - but maybe head coaching isn’t his forte.

Yea he seems to be great at recruiting and bars. Maybe we can switch him and Garrett? Lol
