Remember AJ Johnson? (Arch manning WR)

After I saw Arch get in the game for that run I thought about his top WR in high school. I looked him up and completely forgot he was committed to us for a little while.
He’s in the transfer portal. 1st team WR for the Southern conference this year. No idea how good a player he is anymore but thought I’d share
ETA: it was grades that made him unable to go to a big school, right?

Did he rob somebody or steal something?

Didn’t he get in trouble with the law and LSU backed off his recruitment? My memory is very sketchy surrounding his recruitment.

it was more about the robbery than the grades.

It was not grades. He stole from the Mannings who he was living with

Spent 2 years at Gardner-Webb. This yr he was at east Tennessee state.
PFF grade: 88.7
After spending the last two seasons at Gardner-Webb, AJ Johnson got off to a bit of a slow start in his first season at East Tennessee State with just nine catches for 107 yards and one touchdown over his first five games. But he has hit his stride over the back half of the schedule, catching 31 passes for 555 yards and five touchdowns over his last six outings, including three 100-yard performances. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder has hauled in 40 of 44 catchable targets, and he is averaging 3.04 yards per route run, which ranks sixth among FCS underclassmen with at least 100 targets. He also does not have a single dropped pass.

Might as well. frick the Mannings, they all hate LSU.

Sounds like he is worth a look. A receiver that doesn't drop passes is a good thing.

could this not be another Denver Harris pick? Or isn't Trey Holley enough players in trouble with the law. Well maybe I am being too hard not knowing all the facts. Guess nothing wrong with giving a hand up if he has been clean since the offense. Just trying to minimize the drama surrounding the team.

Good points. BK has continuously pointed out that locker room accountability and program culture are priorities for the program. He won’t jeopardize that. He offered Denver Harris a chance for redemption but it didn’t work out. Not knowing the current situation, we’ll see how this plays out.

I liked him a lot coming out. Watching his highlights at ETSU right now. He is so much better than the guys trying to cover him lol. Running past them, easily winning contested catches.
i wonder what type of resurrection we are talking about here. Someone will take a chance

If he’s kept his nose clean the last couple of years and he’s looking for an opportunity and not a bag of money then I say bring him in. He fits the physical profile of the type of WR we are missing right now

If he stole from a family that was letting him live under their roof he will absolutely steal from teammates or other students. I do t know the details but that sounds like a hard pass.
