Realistic Class finish

I think if we go 9-3 or better we can realistically finish with:
- Desmond Ricks
- Javien Toviano
- DJ Chester
- Isaac Smith
- one more late game offer who commits
That puts us at 28 commits and we probably still take around 7 transfers

What is the confidence level on Ricks? It's hard to find a better match between LSU's need for a CB, and Rick's skill set. But it looks like Bama and FSU are definitely in the mix. Does early playing time at LSU put us in the lead?

Bama and LSU are the early leaders

FSU did not even make his list for top schools. That prediction you see is old.
This is an LSU, Florida, and Alabama battle.
As of now we are the leader according to Fong. I’m sure Kelly is selling the early playing time. If Ricks and Toviano committed they would likely be starters day 1, or close to it.
If we could land those 2 we could challenge for the number 1 class.

Isaac Smith is a very important recruit!

I think these could be names that could be on Flip Watches:
Derek Williams (LSU still pursuing hard)
Chase Bisontis (Texas AM struggling)
Christian Gray (Notre dame struggling: He was also very close to committing to LSU)

I think the way you look at DB is hopefully one of Ricks and Toviano can play early. Then it is about getting Mekhi Garner back and having one of Welch, Allen and Radar Jones (we forget about him) develop into a key contributor. You can also stand to take a couple portal guys as well.

I think Banks has a chance to come back next year as well if he gets a medical redshirt.

Agreed and hope he would, it's just unfortunately if you are planning the board it would be unwise to rely on him at this point. For whatever reason he misses significant time every year.

Raydar Jones stinks and he's not impacting t his team moving forward, imo. I think Welch will be a nice player. I think even if you sign Ricks, Toviano, and Austin you will need a transfer corner. Garner got a nice draft grade last year and he's only improved himself holding his own in the SEC, I think he's gone. I think Banks will take a medical redshirt and come back (hopefully). Gives you two boundary corner spots open between
Transfer if Banks doesn't return
Banks
Welch
Toviano
Ricks
Austin
Stamps
Hughes
Davis-Robinson

Ricks
Toviano
Smith

I would think that since his former coach (Steeples) and teammate (Markway) are Tigers we would have a decent shot.

Can someone send out an Iota bat signal. I’d love to get an update from him

We aint challengin for the number 1 class. If we land both those guys we could challenge for the *number 2* class--in fact, landing both of those guys would probably put us in the driver's seat for #2--but Bama is way way way out in front and isn't going to be caught.
Even if we land both Ricks and Toviano, plus Harbor, plus isaac smith, plus DJ Chester, PLUS keep every single current commit committed, that STILL only puts us at 306.93 on class calculator. Bama is currently at 310.

Does anyone know if Damaris Maghee is still on the team? Didn't he get hurt or something and out for the season?

Long way to go on this one, but great to be up there at or near the top of his list. I think it was the Shea Dixon and Billy Embody podcast this week where they were saying he will not be signing in early signing period and NIL will be a big part of his decision. Granted, top 20 national recruits should all be factoring in NIL to a degree, but it's a question of how much of a factor it is for individual blue chip recruits. Maybe we can compete with other NIL offers/plans, but it adds a big unknown if that is one of his main deciding factors. You also never know if players are just creating a bidding war to get the school they want to attend to offer more, although his actions indicte that he is serious about LSU.

Ricks and Trovaino should get a boner looking at the defense next year. They could be part of one of the best defensive units in a decade or more, not just at LSU but anywhere. They could play for a championship and lock up first round picks in 2/3 years max
