So we opted for the guy scared of competition? That's really hard to believe. We sent a 5* guy away who absolutely wanted to be here (if this is true) in lieu of a lower ranked guy that was scared of competition. No way.

Agreed. That story smelled of bullshite. That was some tiger ree level of spin, which i'm thinking Vol might just be an alter of fat Goebbels.

The composite had him ranked lower than Jarret but 247 had burton ranked higher. Maybe the staff had burton higher. Or maybe they didn’t like that Jarrett wanted to wait till Feb, or maybe they wanted burton as an in to another recruit.
I assure you the staff wouldn’t have just said “Well Rakim is a 5* and Burton is a 4* so we have to take Rakim”

The rumor, as of now, is that we told Rak to walk and Burton is still on the fence. That's impossible to believe.
The far more likely scenario is that Rak was out on his own and people have started trying to spin it.

If this is in fact accurate, and he was forced out, its the only thing that makes any sense at all. It sure appears on the surface that Jarrett was headed here, and someone at LSU advised him to use his backup plan. He had always seemed like a standup kid until this decision today. The only thing that adds up is that we made the decision for him.
My question would be why in the hell would we "process" Rakim Jarrett for Burton.
I know Burton is supposed to be good, but all video footage of Jarrett has very high NFL 1st round draft pick written all over him.
The only WR in this class that I would think we would have processed Jarrett for would have been Demond Demas, and he aint coming here.
Good luck to Rakim at Maryland, I'm not sure this decision was entirely in his hands.

Considering now that Shea is saying Burton is still questionable this seems way more likely the case
