Worded it wrong, that's my bad haha. Meant Texas' 2021 QB flipped to Bama and now their 2022 QB decommit.

Ohio State about to get 3 huge 2022 five star commits
Caleb Burton
Quinn Ewers
Domani Jackson
Three of the top 10 players
They had a great class last year. Will finish with no 1 this year and are now solidifying themselves for the no 1 spot in 2022. No one has a hotter brand than OSU right now. Not Bama, not Clemson, and not LSU. Just have to tio your hat to Day. What he’s doing is very impressive. And will likely continue with another post season run this yea, possible natty, and Heisman.

Their 2021 class is great too. Don’t understand how they’re doing it.
Because there is nobody around them to put up a fight. Penn State and Notre Dame ( and Michigan to an extent ) are basically the only national recruiters in the midwest.

This is ironic.... OSU has absolutely brutalized Texas in recruiting lately in the lone star state.. They are huge all over the country in recruiting but especially Texas. This Quinn Ewers situation could be the fatal blow for Herman. He has the 5th most talented roster but can't seem to get over the hump in development of players. He has tried to model his program like OSU where he was wildly succesful for 3-4 years by hiring OSU coordindators like Yurcich and Chris Ash, who is an excellent D-Coordinator. Why Texas is in such disarray I just for the life of me don't understand. he is a good coach, of that I have no doubt.

Yah, I think he is the real deal. What I think the key for him is the assistants he surrounds himself with. Absolutely brilliant.

Texas is in disarray because they recruit perimeter, flashy players. 5* WR, RB, and DBs are nice but you win football in the trenches. It's like having a Ferrari but with a Honda engine.
In the last 10 years, Texas has had 4 DL drafted and only 1 OL.

Don’t understand how they’re doing it. Especially in the post-Meyer years
They have ELITE coaches at these positions
Day was a QB coach in the NFL
Hartline/Coombs are extremely well respected WR/CB coaches/recruiters
OSU is in a big city, which a lot of the other current top schools can't say. Big city means post-graduate opportunities if the NFL doesn't come calling
It isn't that difficult to understand

They also don't have anyone up North competing with them

It’s a different level to steal Texas recruits that even Saban wants. OSU is doing Bama/Clemson level recruiting despite being a clear step below those two over the past 4 years

You would think that Bama/LSU/Clemson/UGA etc would want Ewers and Burton who are both in Texas (SEC country) and Jackson who is from Cali.
Ohio is a good state for producing talent, but the midwest has nowhere near the talent found in the southeast and the west coast.
LINK
They weren't a top 10 state in producing top talent in 2019. Florida and Texas have 6X as many top prospects.

Ohio State is able to pull from Texas going back to Urbans years at OSU. They have a good pipeline and I can only imagine how easy it is to recruit against Texas with Herman at the helm

how has recruiting sucked?
Posted on 10/29/20 at 12:21 pm to 7Tiger7
Ewers was a heavy OU lean. Most likely will go there now. Or bama.

Don't know if that boy is any good but he's got a killer mullet

Nah. He's going to OSU. He only committed to Texas due to pressure. OSU has always been the school he wanted to attend. Burton plays a role as well in the easy call to make.
OSU has the best pound for pound recruiting staff in the country and everyone knows it. Day doesn't control everything there. He lets the position coaches and coordinators go after who they want and then fit them in. Every position has an ace recruiter or someone with a tremendous reputation of sending players to the NFL. Even fricking Studwara pulls elite talent there and many would say that's their worst recruited spot.
Clemson and Bama rely very heavily on their head coaches to seal the deal. Obviously both do great at it but it's a different way of being successful and shows just how great those 2 are. Urban was another that had that greatness. They begin with the process/culture and fit players into it. Urban didn't quite have the culture and it's what you see at OSU. Talent everywhere but they tend to fit the system to the players instead of the other way around. It's the basis of why OSU is a slight step behind Bama and Clemson on the field. Their structured culture wins out when the talent is equal most times.

Losing the Brockermeyer brothers was brutal for Texas.
