This is ironic.... OSU has absolutely brutalized Texas in recruiting lately in the lone star state.. They are huge all over the country in recruiting but especially Texas. This Quinn Ewers situation could be the fatal blow for Herman. He has the 5th most talented roster but can't seem to get over the hump in development of players. He has tried to model his program like OSU where he was wildly succesful for 3-4 years by hiring OSU coordindators like Yurcich and Chris Ash, who is an excellent D-Coordinator. Why Texas is in such disarray I just for the life of me don't understand. he is a good coach, of that I have no doubt.

look at the his assistant coaches...
the power spread relies on A+ offensive line play
with that budget...did he go out and hire the best of the best?
or did he bring along his buddies from houston?

the OL coaching is not up to par...which affects the whole offense.

i'm sure his dudes great guys.. but without top shelf recruiters/developers you will have difficulty keeping the bamas, LSUs and ohio states of the world from cherry picking the state every year.

if were are a 5 star corner..
where would you go?
to some place up north that developed practically all starters into 1st rounders?
or..to texas where 5 stars corners dont even get drafted?

development(and the culture of development) IS the problem at Texas..
that would change until they can consistently get players drafted..

it is what it is.

i do find it humorous..this longhorn predicament with urban meyer
texas "money" created a lot of stress and headache of the meyer clan..
i highly doubt anyone forgot about that whole zach smith mess..

yet, texas have to go all in here...they have no choice.
urban meyer is the lone 'free agent' that instantly changes the narrative on texas not being able to develop talent.
and..they have absolutely zero leverage.

they have to throw generational money at urban..and hope he bites on the idea of setting up a blueblood program for his son-in-law to succeed as the OC/coach-in-waiting.

no urban..
then back to back recruiting classes will be duds.
which will set the program back at least another 10 years(if the are lucky)
