did anyone else think it felt really awkward that somebody (maybe his coach?) could be heard on the radio in the background whispering to Rettig what to say?

You really think a 17-year old kid has gotten savvy enough with the media to avoid saying something that creates a negative headline, or fodder for boards like this? LSU spends lots of time with guys on media relations, and it still doesn't take. Give the kid credit for knowing that he needs to be taught, and to get help until he learns. Think about some recent LSU QBs, and ask yourself if they wouldn't have benefited from a little PR coaching?

This is truly great news but the best news is being overlooked. Mett goes pro next year after winning the National Championship. So the good news is the rant will have a hissyfit when Rivers starts the following year. More qb arguments on the rant and more $$$ for tigerdroppings.

Every LSU player receives it from Day 1. Some grasp it better than others, as you implied.

Whoa. Easy there, fella. I'm not mocking the kid for needing help. I'm saying it felt really awkward that we could actually hear the guy in the background. This isn't the first high school kid to do a radio interview and he's obviously not the first to need help. Just saying maybe the coach should've come up with a better way to convey his messages than loudly whispering over the air.

He also name dropped Hal Mumme. Maybe he's trying to get an offer from McMurry University

I tend to block out the Hal Mullet days of LSU football...lol

1997-2000 was not my favorite time. At least we got the White helments in 1997 vs. ND in the snow for the INDY bowl...I have Larry Fosters from that game

An Auburn fan said he threw 17 TDs as a Sophomore. To go along with 20 interceptions. I thought he was full of shite until I looked it up myself.

BioRettig only played in two games as a junior before being sidelined with a torn ACL in his right knee. His older brother, Chase Rettig, is the starting quarterback at Boston College.

fwiw, his team around him didn't seem to be very talented plus 5 of his int's were in one game.
