So with all the QB discussion, figured I would throw out this name. This could be a fall back plan if LSU doesn't get who they want in the first round of the transfer portal.

Recruited to ND by Kelly... played last year then transferred to Arizona State. Seems to have a few injuries here and there. Just announced he was transferring back to ND for the spring so he can graduate in May... not playing ball in Spring but will have 3 years left of eligibility.

Probably not a threat to Nuss or too the young guys... Knows Kelly's system so that transition should be easy. Gives a quality depth/back up type of guy... not having to only rely on Collins if Nuss gets hurt... and looking at our schedule next year, its a gauntlet. Depth everywhere will be a must to improve on our record.

This is the kind of deep research and well thought out posts that keeps me from giving up on the board in the middle of 75 threads about Antonio Alfano.

Hard pass. We want someone who can play.

People will shite on him but he would be a good addition with our situation. He started a full season at ND in 2022. Stats were 64% completion, 2021 yards 22 TDs only 6 picks.
We can’t get someone who will immediately start… Nuss will leave thereby screwing us further. Pyne gives us an experienced backup.

And he was the starter at Arizona State prior to injury.

Not the best QB in the portal, but he's solid. He will get some high P5 offers, especially with the weak portal class and he will have 3 years.

Does he plan on Riding the Pyne, while Nussmeier is the Starting QB?

Rashada was QB1 before getting injured. To the OPs point I wonder if they have been contacted by potential grad transfers, could be some interesting names pop up this summer.

I don’t hate it. It’s not going to be easy to convince quality guys who want to start or have a good chance to start to come be a back up at LSU. It can be done but it’ll take the right person and right time.

Was at ND 2020, 2021, & 2022. Probably some differences between then and now but it's not like walking into a completely different offense.

Not saying he is going to win the job from Nuss and not even saying he is the best option out there but definitely could do a lot worse. Who knows what happens after Spring ball with QB battles... could be some really talented guys hitting the portal. Figured it was worth the discussion

I meant was a starter. He started the USC game. They started like 4 different QBs. The point was that he's been a starter at two different P5 programs, so he will get some high-level P5 looks. I'm not advocating him for LSU by any means, however. Just pointing out that he's a decent player.

Was at ND 2020, 2021, & 2022.

2020: Covid year, doesn't count
2021: Redshirts
2022: Redshirt freshman
2023: Redshirt sophomore
2024: Redshirt Junior
2025: Redshirt Senior

I don't see where he could have 3 years left. He will have two left.

Not sure, but that's what is being reported by ESPN unless they are wrong (highly possible) Maybe thinking of a medical redshirt?

Maybe he's going to apply for a medical, but you usually do that at the end of you eligibility to try and get a year back. Maybe he's assuming he will get it, which he might.

Hell know. We want a warm body, not a corpse. You might as well have Collins as the backup.
