Texas has a sub par year and LSU has another 10 win season and stays competitive in NIL, this can be another Harold Perkins type situation.

Recruits do not care about on the field performance. It's pretty clear at this point.

Texas football over the last 4 years:

2019: 8-5
2020: 7-3
2021: 5-7
2022: 8-5

That's the epitome of mediocrity. Doesn't matter, Simmons still chose Texas. Texas A&M put together the greatest recruiting class ever coming off an 8-4 season.

Here are your top 3 factors with recruiting these days:

1) NIL money (far and away the top factor)
2) Relationship with coaches
3) Feel and fit of the campus, school, facilities, etc.

He would if he could. LSU doesn’t have as much money as Texas.

False. That's what you inferred.

And they just had to shut down their Collective due to an IRS investigation after a chunk of that class transferred out. Texas may find similar difficulties soon enough.

Are we really upset the money we do have is going to our top players that are on campus already versus unproven high school kids that could flake out and leave on a dime?

What Kelly won’t do is bankrupt us for one recruit. $500k here, $1mill there is pocket change for Texas. We’ve got to be more deliberate with our money.

You act like Kelly pays out of his pocket. We have no idea how any of this works , let’s be real

Not at all. I trust them to use the money where is needs to go. I was just saying if we had as much as Texas, Kelly would absolutely be in bidding wars. Any coach would be stupid not to.

Great mover for this Kid. Really like LSU, but home and the money will get you every time. Anyone remember when Dorothy clicked her heel's and zoom "straight back home".

I know we have examples of this in other sports but I do not see current players on the LSU football team doing it while at LSU. If so then that’s great but we should be hearing about it like we are for women’s basketball, if that’s the case.

Maybe the football program needs to hire the same person doing it for women’s basketball because obviously this person is getting it done but also getting the stories out into the public and into the living rooms.

If not the same person then they should have someone saying the exact same things with the exact same message for the football program. Using the same type of techniques to get it out into the living rooms.

Who said anything about a 40 year plan? I’m talking about 3-5 years, while at LSU and that is very possible. You give me 150-250k and I can make that a million before you graduate in 3 years and I will show you how to do that. You have to go out and do it but I’ll show you several ways to help get this done with relative ease.

LSU may be doing exactly this but if they are, then we will be fine. That is much more impressive than just giving someone 250k to blow. The only difference between 250k and 1 million is about a year or two of letting your money work and building it. At that point, it’s just where would you rather learn how to do it because either way, you’ll know how to take care of yourself and your family.

Then you can go back to selling the fanbase, the atmosphere, the LSU brand, the fun they’ll have, the teammates they play with, the championships they’ll win etc. LSU should win that argument 8/10 times.

Sounds great! We’ll see ya next after that check clears. Can’t blame a young man for wanting to take care of his family first. It’s honestly the most selfless and adult decision he could’ve made. No hard feelings towards the young man.

I said that right from the jump and still got down votes. We can’t outbid these Texas idiots if they decide they really want to show us. It’s just an unfortunate truth. Thankfully eventually after paying all this money and having multiple kids take a dump all over their program they will prolly grow tired of throwing money and unproven 17-18 year olds

Success on the field is downplayed too much. It matters. Several of our transfers listed a chance at a natty as one of their deciding factors. Your list of reasons is valid, but winning also belongs there. None of us are in the room when kids decide, but $money and winning are likely at the top of the list. If the money is big enough, then it is A#1 on the list. For the ones we get and the ones we don't. Playing close to home also is a consideration.
