Convince Perk to come back as a RB. I don't know he will make it as a full-time pass rusher only or as an Inside LB due to getting blown out of most plays pushed back 8 yards. He is fast, athletic, and played a lot of RB in high school.

It would give him film at multiple positions but RB might be his best.

Ju'Juan is another guy not in the mold I am talking about in terms of player profile. He's a very talented guy but more of a "gadget" type (wildcat, end arounds, that sort of thing) it seems like.

They need a guy that can pass block and play special teams and grind out tough yards, that has a lot of experience.

Yeah I agree, but you still need a vet that can pass block, grind out yards, make tough plays, etc if you don't have faith in Kaleb (or he transfers)

Not in today’s NIL and portal world. If the young guys are good enough, give them the reps. That’s how you keep them. We already know Durham is. Getting Emery back for a last season would be enough of a stabilizer.

Also, remember that we will be over the 85 limit with this recruiting class and will have to lose double digit players to the portal to bring anyone from the portal in. The staff will likely be focused on the biggest priorities- OL, Safety, etc. If we have 4 backs out of those 6 on the roster (and that’s not even counting Johnson, who could end up staying on offense and getting more reps after learning the position), we likely aren’t adding another via the portal.

Unless he wants to go to a small school, he won't he getting more then that at any other top program.

That’s exactly what I’m saying. He had an opportunity and squandered it, got passed up by a freshman and now will likely not see more playing time next year, certainly not as the featured back.

So he probably looks at a smaller school to try and become rb1

Didn't they change the 85 man roster limit for 2025? I thought it was moving to 100.

They definitely have too many question marks going into the season to not pursue one. Jackson probably transfers, who knows with Holy, not sure if Emery gets a 7th year, two undersized true freshman coming in.

It’s entirely too much.

The only reason I kind of agree with this is this offense requires a lot of pass protection from the RB position. Caden Durham I believe has the experience to pass protect at a high level. I also believe Harlem Berry's running style is a perfect fit for this Joe Sloan offense. If Berry picks up RB blocking duties quickly there is probably no need for a veteran RB to transfer in. However if Jackson, Holly and the new freshman show signs of struggling with pass protection then maybe get a veteran RB in the second portal window.

Yeah, they really fricked all of the schools over by doing this. Other conferences will likely be free to expand their roster this offseason, but none of us will. I think the staff was planning for the bigger number with this class and now they are having to adjust.

Good. He’ll be drawing social security so he won’t need as much NIL.

yes because of ACL injury in our bowl game. should be back next year. would be nice to have him as a veteran RB option like OP mentioned. not sure why I'm getting downvoted for saying that

I don’t think the SEC really fricked anyone. The SEC doesn’t set scholarship limits, the NCAA does.

The problem is that the early signing period starts in two days and the NCAA still hasn’t actually changed the scholarship limits. At some point the programs have to get guidance on how many players to sign for 2025. The SEC doesn’t have authority to override the NCAA scholarship limits, so they basically said “these are the rules until the NCAA formally changes them.”

It seems like the NCAA is staying quiet until the settlement gets approved. They should have issued an interim policy months ago if the limits are actually going to change in 2025. Instead they’ve left everyone in limbo.
