Honestly, that Gio Lopez kid from South Alabama looked like a mini Cam Ward as a freshman against us.
As a USA fan I don’t want to lose Gio Lopez. But as an LSU fan I am not sure that he is a top tier SEC level QB.
I will also say that he has been a bit of on injury concern this year in the SBC, so I am not sure if he could hold up to the grind of an SEC schedule.

Who’s calling plays Slappy? Who’s our OL coach? Cuz they’re trash too.

Pay the big bucks to snag someone from an SEC/Big 10 school and if they refuse, kick Nuss to the curb and go all in on Hurley.
Posted on 11/21/24 at 11:24 pm to Billy Johnson
Hurley is not even close to ready from Fall camp reports

Diego Pavia while a good story, will not get LSU to the CFP.

Daniel's had a 65% completion rate and threw for 2300 yards in his last season @ Arizona State..
That's also the SAME 10 interception season people reference without nothing he had the HIGHEST COMPLETION PERCENTAGE IN THE CONFERENCE !
Ran for 700 yards and 6 tds.
In 3 seasons he passed for 6000 yards...32 touchdowns and ONLY 13 interceptions including almost a 3000 yard season as a freshman...
17 touchdowns and 2900 passing yards as a freshman...
Covid sophomore year he had 9 touchdowns and 1 interceptions..
He was recruited by 25 D-1 schools out of high school including: Ohio State, UCLA, Oregon, USC, Florida State, Tennessee, Ole Miss,Georgia!!!
His freshman year he was the MVP of the bowl game.
He threw only 3 ints his first 2 seasons.
Only biased LSU fans, alums etc DIDN'T KNOW THAT COACH BK STRUCK GOLD BY RECRUITING JAYDEN DANIELS!!!
He was highly coveted out of high school and was a great portal option once ASU began to have administration/ NCAA issues!

Mensah beat out former Oregon QB Ty Thompson to win the starting job...
No way he's leaving Tulane for LSU!!
You have a better chance convincing Thompson to transfer....
Many people thought Thompson would start after Pratt graduated.

Probably could’ve gotten Sayin after Saban retired but that was about the same time Underwood committed here.

This list is shite….plenty of top flight QBs will remarket themselves.
Avery Johnson of KSU will be ripe for the picking.

He’s actively looking around. Would not at all be shocked for him to land here.

Goodness Fifita is the only one on that list I’d remotely want

Well what's the operating assumption here on Nussmeier's status?
If he leaves, yeah I think you need go after an experienced QB or roll the dice on an inexperienced but highly recruited guy like Noland.
However, what if he comes back. I think there's worse places to be than having a veteran QB with a year of SEC play under his belt. However Nuss isn't without his warts and the offense surrounding him has to be better as well. Offensive line first and foremost, running game, receivers and definitely play calling.
For my part, I'm not ready to completely write off a 2025 with Nuss starting. His arm can compete in the SEC. Think of the Kyle Parker touchdown throw, the Anderson TD throws against Ole Miss and Florida. NFL throws. But there's so much to clean up.
