Doesn't matter if he is the best player in Mississippi. Recruiting services are all powerful and know all...sort of like the Wizard of Oz..and just as illegitimate I might add!

You remember the all time classic right? Derrius Guice the LSU commit was a high 4* but NOT a 5*. He VISITS Alabama after all the games had been played and before NSD and magically he becomes a 5*. When asked why he visited, Guice said, "I wanted my 5th star." That is 100% a true story...all publicly known BTW...NOT rumor or gossip whatsoever.

Could they not have waited until AFTER signing day to announce this?? Can’t have sharks circling. I’ve been saying he’s the most athletic db we have in this class and 23 class combined.

NOT talking about Woodland, but there are plenty times a state player of the year just isn’t a high level college prospect, it’s a high school accomplishment award. It’s silly to try to hang this over recruiting services.

Personally, I would take the assessment within a state of the best player which is this case is done by MaxPreps, a division of CBS Sports over these 3rd party hack recruiting services. And if CBS Sports isn't good enough for anyone, how about the Mississippi coaches. "Coaches in Mississippi picked Woodland as the Class 7A Defensive Player of the Year." I also would guess 7A is the highest class of competition in MS so IMO it is NOT remotely silly to put this FAR ABOVE multiple recruiting services who may not have even seen the kid play (obviously some coaches did).
