Dondre Dobbins - 6'1 200 DB/Athlete - Scotlandville- not very fast, but knows how to play the game. SEC caliber player. MS State, Ole Miss, Auburn type kid. NFL type player.

Reco Beckwith 5'11 190 DB/Athlete Franklin Parish - another kid who hits hard. Ed Reed type of kid. Another mid-low level SEC type kid. www.hudl.com/athlete/940858/reco-beckwith

Nick Bickham - 6'4 240 - St. Amant - kid with more than just skills. Good kid, good football player. Always need them on the team. Could grow into a great DT player down the line. www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_05mReedEo

CJ Gatlin - 6'3 210 QB - Ruston HS...

Are you suggesting something or simply pointing out some kids to watch?

6'4", 240 lbs seems small for a DT in the SEC.

Those two don't go together at all.

Not sure this computes. To make it in the NFL must be "fast" and good. Athletic ability is preferred to "nose for the football" especially in the defensive backfied.

But I am sure the kid is a great high school player and will likely be a sound college football player, but the further up the ladder you go, where everyone is "fast" the more you will be exposed.

We've moved on a few La guys that are under the radar. Shaan Washington (DB/LB) has held a TAMU offer for while now and just recently Edward Williams (LB) out of New Orleans was offered. I had never heard of Williams before a few days ago but apparently he's a player. Any of you know anything about either of these guys?

I don't think Dobbins is that overlooked, he is a great DB and Scotlandville is full of speed and athleticism on that roster!

That kid had some really good games and a couple of bad ones last year. Don't know if it was due to competition or him being young and erratic. If he plays better consistently with better players around him at Ruston, he could get some decent offers. He has a pretty good arm and made some really good throws in some of his better games last year. Saw them beat East Jeff in the playoffs last year and was impressed with a couple of plays he made.

Interesting how his dad went from the head coach at Alexandria High to Ruston's offensive coordinator.
Some Ruston fans are hoping he's their Mettsiah.

There was one last year.(All-state) Led the state in passing.(over 3000yds) Junior year was second in state passing.5 time 5A player of the week both seasons.Finished high school as a two year starter with 76 total TD's.Had 14 td's in the 5A playoffs and led his team to the final four . Lost to West Monroe but game went to final 6 min.Was referenced by two Saints coaches. Knows the game. He was told by Frank Wilson he was the best QB in the state but they would not recruit a 6' QB...Told him if e was 6'2" he was in. Tough to swallow but it is what it is. He was offered by Petrino last minute on NSD but passed to go to a smaller college. He's very happy with his deal but growing up around here who wouldn't want to be a Tiger. Actually has put on more muscle since season. up to 188lbs now.

This week is the first I've heard about Williams. As for Washington, he was a guy who was on most everyone's early list of possible in-state LSU targets, but seems to have fallen away. It's only recently I've started to hear his name again.

I don't know if LSU winds up offering, but he is an intriguing prospect. Good size and off the chart athletic ability. He's 6-3, 200, I think. And he has a 40 inch vertical leap.

He had some big games as a receiver last year, but he seems to project at safety/LB on the next level. He's also a pretty solid basketball player. Not sure what the LSU staff thinks of him. I think he made all state last year.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking TAMU wants Washington at LB but I'm not sure. I hope that's the case because we need LBs, and I'm not very confident about landing Claiborne.

Who do yall see as the main competition for him? LSU isn't going to offer, so I'd like to see him go outside the SEC, because I think he's that good. But I thought yall were the leader for him.

The Williams kid from NOLA is intriguing. His name just popped up recently. Plays at an absolutely awful school, not sure how good the team is, but the school is awful. Looks like he's got good size and is already qualified. I imagine his ceiling is high because he probably isn't in any sort of weight program whatsoever, and the word is that his family is destitute, so it's likely he's not eating very well either. That can lead to a dramatic change in body type at the next level, especially at a school like A&M with good facilities and coaching.

Claiborne seems to really like Nebraska. I'm just not getting my hopes up.
