I heard Ford might be a better linebacker as well.

I interviewed his head coach Jimmy Zachery. We're going to get D'Shaun on the phone early next week to get a few comments from him. Coach said Ford loves playing defense. Went both ways in middle school.

Linebackers have a longer shelf life in the NFL and get drafted higher.

Good stuff. Although with Berry and Simon coming in. Do we really need a 3rd running back in this class?

If they all have varied skill sets and can contribute in different ways, yes.

This kid is HUGE. If we're going to be more of a zone scheme running team he'll need to really love the nutrition and weights. 247 has him at 210, but I saw him in the semi's and he's closer to 225. Here's a pic of him in the Dome. He looks way bigger than from the beginning of the season. Solid runner great pad level.

Clean, I just saw another Opelousas kid ranked on the 2025 rankings. CB Landon Hammond. Last name makes me wonder if he's related to Robert and Darwon. Both played at Southern, but Robert started his career at Florida State.

I recall a Robert Hammond who signed with FSU. Opelousas should be scary good next year.

12 game season, plus conference championship game plus playoffs and possible natty...that's like 16 games....you need fresh legs in November so they need atleast 4 backs ready to Play at all times

Getting him at LB will be better. When/if he gets here we'll have Jackson, Holly, Durham, Berry, and possibly Simon. With the transfer portal, it's dumb to sign too many guys at one position. I'd rather he develop as an inside linebacker.

What was the safety that came out of Opelousas and signed with Notre Dame way back when? It was early 1990’s?
