Your not the only one

In response to your original thought of what is the wildest rankings.

Florida at 32 is just shocking. They are 51st in 247 I think as well. Just crazy how far their program has fallen.

Another interesting one is Oregon only at 7. They are having a great run and have only like 15 commits I think. You would think they would capitalize more on this recent success with their money.

Auburn is a bit surprising too. They are putting together nice class.

The rankings always gets back to Industry On3, I just want it to stay 100% On3, I feel like the maid, I just cleaned up this mess, can we keep it 100% On3 for 10 minutes?

No you know that I have nothing but the deepest respect for you and the work you do.

I'm beginning to think that you have left Bama for good.

I’m so ready for Alabama’s damn recruiting to fall apart. They’re still riding Nick Saban’s momentum for right now.

I hate what Nick Saban did to college football from 2007-2023 by building Bama back up into the juggernaut they were many decades ago. He changed the trajectory of the sport forever in so many ways.

Eh, i think this is a deliberate strategy - and probably a smart one given their financial advantage. For the vast majority of programs, recruiting is a constant balancing game between making your best possible push for the guys you REALLY want, and knowing when to pull the plug and move to Plan B before it gets too late and you lose out altogether. There's a lot of times where you have to make the decision to effectively give up on an elite, tier-1 prospect with whom you actually do have a real chance, in exchange for a tier 2 or 3 prospect you think is a near sure bet.

But when you have deeper pockets than anyone else, you really don't have to worry about that tradeoff quite as much. For one thing, it makes it a whole lot easier to land any given top-level recruit - AND to land enough of them in the aggregate that it fills out a good portion of your overall class. Because you can get yourself into the mix for just about anyone, it essentially makes the potential reward for the strategy of focusing strictly on top-end guys a lot greater than it would be for other programs. And for two: The money makes depth less of a concern. If you're hoping to sign 25 but only have 15 committed a few weeks out from ESD, you can just go out and overspend a little on those remaining spots without having to worry about being able to afford the guys who are already in the boat. Or you can just wait for the portal - the money means that you can afford (in terms of risk) to go into the portal window with a glaring need or two, because you realistically wont have to worry about coming up totally empty-handed if there are positions or players you really want or need. So deep pockets ALSO reduce the downside risk associated with the strategy of focusing strictly on the best of the best in recruiting.

Basically, having deep pockets increases the upside of that strategy and also decreases the downside. That effect is even more pronounced if you're smart about positional value in managing your roster: For positions that are common in the portal or are difficult to scout for HS prospects, the fact that you'll never come up totally empty in the portal means you can largely leave those out of your HS class and focus your HS recruiting specifically on the positions where HS recruiting is more necessary/valuable. Other programs could do this too, but then if they get unlucky and fewer guys enter the portal at their positions of need than expected, and they get outbid for those guys, all of a sudden they're totally screwed. That's not something oregon really has to worry about.

I don't think it's an accident that Oregon and Texas are both extremely top-heavy this cycle

Fong calling his shot on 3 LSU prospects. The medium confidence thing is pretty funny.

Bryce Underwood he has medium confidence in LSU

Jahkeem Stewart he has low confidence in Oregon

DJ Pickett he has medium confidence in LSU
