Monday marks On3’s first rankings release for football prospects the 2027 cycle with the initial Top 100, and four Louisiana high school prospects made the list – and all four are LSU targets.

quote:

QB Elijah Haven – Dunham – No. 1 QB, No. 11 overall

On3’s Charles Power: “Elijah Haven (No. 11) leads the group. The Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham School signal caller had one of the best freshman seasons among 2027 quarterbacks and is a big, physically-gifted athlete. At 6-foot-4 and over 200 pounds, Haven shows a strong downfield arm. He threw for 2,205 yards and 35 touchdowns against three interceptions as a freshman. Haven doubles as a plus rusher, adding 12 touchdowns on the ground. The rising sophomore will need to continue smoothing out his passing mechanics, but the physical upside is apparent and already manifesting in significant ways on Friday nights.

quote:

QB Malachi Zeigler – No. 7 QB, No. 51 overall

On3’s Charles Power: “Malachi Zeigler (No. 51), Gunner Rivers (No. 60), Sione Tu’amoheloa-Kaho (No. 68) and Peter Bourque (No. 87) round out quarterbacks inside the Top 100. Zeigler is a high upside prospect who has shown a live arm and athleticism in the camp setting. Rivers is the son of former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers and had a big freshman season playing for his father at Fairhope (Ala.) St. Michael Catholic. Tu’amoheloa-Kaho is a smooth passer and Bourque shows one of the strongest arms among the group.”

quote:

TE Ahmad Hudson – No. 9 TE, No. 92 overall

The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon: “While LSU has yet to offer a quarterback prospect in the 2027 class, Hudson became the first offer out from the Tigers to any prospect in the cycle. Since then, offers have rolled in from colleges as the 6-foot-5, 180-pound rising sophomore continues to flash on both the hardwood and gridiron. Hudson is the son of former LSU basketball player Antonio Hudson, who suited up for the Tigers from 2002-05. He landed on the All-SEC Tournament team in his first and final seasons in purple-and-gold, and Hudson averaged double-digit points in three of his four years of college basketball.”

quote:

ATH Braylon Calais – No. 14 ATH, No. 99 overall

The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon: “The 6-foot-2, 191-pounder broke onto the recruiting scene during his freshman season at Cecilia, and he now holds nearly double-digit college offers which include programs like Miami, Texas A&M and Mississippi State. Miami’s offer during camp this summer came at wide receiver, which could be the spot team’s focus on moving forward as he gears up for his sophomore season. Calais debuted as a Top 15 athlete as the fourth Louisiana prospect inside the initial On3 Top 100.”

I’d love to have Haven as the heir apparent to Underwood.

Well, shite. All of a sudden LSU is churning out QBs and now there's basically a waiting list for top QB recruits to get here. I blame the Super Collider. We don't know it, but it's turning everything upside down.

Haven is a physical freak. If he keeps growing and fills out his frame, he’s almost like Cam Newton 2.0

He’ll do great leading TCU or Miss State in a few years. He’s the 3rd best QB in the state, unless he grows 3-5 inches

Zeigler is the most talented quarterback in the state. He plays with a extremely underwhelming supporting cast in Benton so his stat sheet probably won't pop but all of the physical tools are there. He is the guy I would want to look more into evaluating and being the quarterback of the 2027 class if they go after an in state guy this cycle.

Haven is starting to fill out. I don't think he is going to out grow the position though. My best guess is he is going to top out at 6'5.5"-6'6".

I can't stress this enough, the best part about him is what is between his ears. I wouldn't mind to see him a little more willing to step out of bounds though every now and then.

Is Braylon Calais part of the branch of the Calais family that are Hilliard cousins?

For sure. He’ll probably end up around 6’1 and light it up at Miss State. Thankfully we have better options
