It's time to get some regulation on NIL.
Players should still be compensated but this is just feeling like the wild west and I'd imagine it's the biggest headache ever for coaching staffs.

Maybe there will be another follow up on this after the season concludes

On Thursday, the Alabama head coach is meeting with one of the power brokers who will have legitimate sway over any federal legislation aimed at NIL. Saban, along with LSU head coach Brian Kelly and athletic director Scott Woodward, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne and president Stuart Bell, are meeting with Majority Leader Steve Scalise according to Sports Illustrated.
The hope is to have a productive conversation about the future of college athletes and NIL regulations. For more than a year now, conference commissioners and coaches have called on Capitol Hill to enact legislation for NIL oversight.

NIL is killing college football at a fast rate.

Dude it is gonna be absolutely hilarious when some form of NIL regulation comes into effect and the faggies miss their greatest opportunity ever to actually compete for a title.
The second you can't just straight up buy players with absurd amounts of money, their recruiting is going to take such a massive hit.

What people don’t understand is that you can’t buy players who will come and put their body and hearts on the line. Yes you might get a 5* player to commit but will he actually develop and buy into the team / coaching staff or will he just be all about himself and his future in the NFL. In other words simply perform well enough to get himself into an advantageous draft position.
I bet 9/10 players who commit to your program simply based off of monetary gain will only look out for themselves, therefore, never allow that coach or coaches to get the most out of him in 3 years. That’s when you get players transferring, stay injured during offseason workouts etc.
Yes ok, give them what they’re worth and can make their college experience more comfortable, maybe some for their family but just handing out unnecessary money is not the route you want your program to go or be known for. These kids will absolutely take full advantage of those teams and use them, like most people would. But giving them a respectable amount of money, imo makes them respect you as a coach and program. It tells them that hey, this program has a real plan and they’ll take care of me but still demands my respect. The quality types of players/people will respect that.

Yes and no. At a certain point market rate becomes market rate. Recruits are expecting at least a certain amount of NIL. Certainly the highest bidder doesn’t always win (for some recruits it does) but you have to be competitive with what you’re offering or else it just doesn’t make any financial sense to go to your school.

Saban when asked about NIL
"If it costs 1 million to get the QB your program needs, that's what it is if you want to sign the QB, so instead of complaining about it, you better find the million dollars because someone else will"
Nick at Noon Ole Miss weekend

Makes you think that LSU isn't fricking around when it comes to Bryce Underwood

Literally 90% of them are going to make more in college than the pros, unreal
So 8 OT x 100 800k
Then 8 FL x 200 1.6
3QB x 1. 3.0 etc etc
So then 30-50 million a year

This isn’t what Name and likeness means, this is just pay to play.

How? Do you want a regulatory cap on what you make for a living?
Only chance for a cap is through collective bargaining (or a union). Would love to see these leftist college presidents have to deal with the real world union bosses when it will come out of their pie!

Bingo. Nobody knows WTF these kids are when they walk on campus and there is zero likeness recognition based on actual college production. It is a 100% pay to play scam.

Which is why when it was estimated atm class was 25mm to sign, it wasn't some outlandish #. Considering they got the #1 qb and like 4 top 25 dlineman.

It certainly seems like Kelly has a public face when it comes to NIL, but has still been willing to play the game when it’s required. Or at least work together with the collectives that do, as needed.

It's the American way.
You can say what you want, but we are not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America!

Interesting how businesses typically don't want the government involved in its affairs, especially its labor issues because the government will usually side with workers and support more pay and benefits.
Now we have a mega business in college football asking the government to get involved because the labor is getting too much pay and benefits and they want some sort of cap or regulation. But not regulation of the people who sit atop of the college football world. Oh no. Don't regulate their salaries and benefits. Just the players. Typical business owners BS.

Also makes you think that Denbrock has proven himself enough to convince TAF that we need Underwood.
