Devil’s Advocate: wouldn’t not going to the Bayou Splash spoil the surprise??
Posted on 7/24/23 at 4:45 pm to LSUGoo
No because all they would know (think) is that LSU is out. Now it becomes even more of a surprise as to where he would go to college.

Just relaying what I was told yesterday by his Pops, believe it or not, I’m just the messenger

I get it. If true, its a bit concerning he has made a decision before an OV to LSU

Never said I don’t believe you. I don’t know what I posted to make you think that.

majority of these kids grow up dreaming about playing at LSU. He may be one of them and doesn’t need an official visit to tell him where he wants to go. You could very well be right but it’s not concerning to me. If he was an out of state kid, then yes, very concerning

I think the year used is not reflective of the exact results, but the larger point holds.
In 2022 (the Quency Wiggins, Walker Howard class), LSU got 4 of the top 10 in the state.
Last year, LSU got only 5 of the top 10, but three were players who were never coming to LSU under any circumstances: Arch Manning, Tackett Curtis, and Holstein.
That is a fluky coincidence imo.

Members of his circle are fascinated with Texas. But with Frank Wilson getting involved he wouldn't be surprised if those other visits were cancelled.

Frank Wilson has gotten involved with the Duncanville kids and sees it as Texas vs LSU.
Sounds like Kelly called in The Wolf to get things cleaned up.

LSU hasn’t even turned up the heat on these kids yet. Recruiting them hard, of course but they didn’t expend the entire clip of ammo and they still have the elite sniper, that is coach CBK to close the deal
This! Visits in the fall too. I know we’re all biased here, but Texas and A&m have trash home schedules. Thank God for Saturday nights in Baton Rouge!

Word that I heard yesterday from McKinley’s Dad is he has made a decision but did not let his Dad in on what school he is choosing wants entire family to be surprised by his choice. Bayou Splash attendance is a good sign for Tigers because why geaux if he is no longer interested. We shall see how this weekend goes
Look at the upvotes when you are saying something everyone wants to hear lol. Honestly, I really want to believe you are an insider with good info. I guess if he commits after this weekend, that will be be all the proof that is needed.

From what a coach, Kiffin, Kelly or Saban said, the outside third parties, basically agents, are getting more involved in where these kids are steered to. I think I heard Matthews from Ponchy was bought for $350k-plus even though he was always talking about his desire to play 45 minutes down the road at LSU.

That sounds like college basketball pre NIL

Last year the Tigers lost out of 6 of the top 10 in Louisiana.
This is a bit misleading, considering 3 of the 10 were quarterbacks. LSU signed 1 of those 3.
While technically true, there is no scenario where LSU signs all three QBs, regardless of who is the coach. This is not a "pipeline" issue.

Being from this state and showing up to the pool party with allllllllllll the big commits is a huge push. It makes the kids want to be a part of what makes LSU so special. The idea of doing it for your state. They’ll get their NIL at LSU and be physically ready for the NFL. Then when it’s all said and done be a Louisiana legend.

LSU as a brand is riding a nearly year long high where I don't know if we've ever seen a University have such positivity and good will in the National spotlight.
Going back to last season and winning the West, LSU never left the spotlight thanks to the heroics and championships from both the Women's Basketball and Men's Baseball, it's been like one long LSU commercial. It's not just DBU anymore, its National Championship University
Taking that into account, along with the fact that with Kelly, this LSU program is in the hands of an extremely competent steward, the effect on recruiting should be felt immediately, now and in the long term future.
We've had a pretty damn good run these past 20 or so years, but with Kelly, LSU's best years are still ahead of them.
Now how's that for some sunshine ?
