having someone with game experience behind center when Mett gets knocked down (and it WILL happen at some point this year) can be the difference between us making it back to MNC game and hanging out in Jerry World in January talking about the great young QBs that we'll have in future years.

Did I miss the debate that said Jordan Jefferson didn't have the physical abilities to succeed at QB? JJ was a physically-gifted QB and avoiding players that have his skill-set is absurd. I am not saying Bolden actually plays like JJ and neither is that tidbit.

FACT...if he takes reps, they would have gone to someone else which makes their developement go faster. Especially if it is second qb reps which is game preparation reps instead of running a scout team.
Your smartass comments dont mean shite and show you dont know a thing about sports.
STFU.
This staff wanted 4 QBs on scholarship this year. You have no clue about football if you think a QB added for depth purposes will hinder the development of the younger guys.

Otherwise, it would be clear you did not grasp the fact that when the NCAA dropped the bomb on PSU and said "anyone on the PSU team who wants to transfer to another school can do so with no penalty and can play immediately" they meant exactly that. And did not add any "except for anyone who transfers to LSU" clauses.
Will he be able to play this coming season or does he have to sit out one year?

This is one thing that killed Lee in 08, every week was spent trying to piece a game plan together for the next game. They didn't really have time to go back to basics and work on the fundamental flaws in his game.
Geez
They practice fundamentals EVERY day at practice all together before they do any team drills.
Reps with the first and second team are the #1 way to develope/learn....
I say it again, if he takes one rep away from another qb or qbs, that is a rep that would have gone to someone else's developement. GIve all the hypotheticals you want....the poster said we would lose NOTHING and I answered another qb would lose reps to him.....that fact is not even close to be an arguement.

hold the phone, this may be nothing but it has been reported that Bolden was given his release a while back and hasn't been on the roster during the summer. I don't know the exact timing, but it would be interesting to know if the exceptions would apply to someone who left the team before the NCAA ruling.
Also, as far as initial counters go, it appears that the new SEC rule is for all players who sign an LOI. So Liggins does count. Going forward you can only back-count if you take under 25 LOI's, even if several don't make it to campus.

There is validity in both angles. Yes, reps with the #1's and 2's will be diluted for Bolden, but the long term effect will be minimal as the practices will tailored to provide adequate exposure to faster paced play.
My point: Saint is correct, but the actual effects are not significant.
Now, if you were dealing with older QBs with less time to be in the program, then there'd be more of a ripple effect.

i tried pointing out this fact about 3 pages ago but nobody paid any attention...
if i wanted to have a convo w/ u, i'd just buy a frickn parrot and teach him to say,"coaches know best." both of ur inputs would b equally valued
i give MOT and forelsu credit where credit is due. if this kid doesnt take a spot f/ 2013 recruit or ee (his ability to be backcounted), then im pretty indifferent to this whole discussion

I live less than an hour from Penn State. He did not play a lot because he is no good under pressure of the game not just the pass rush. Many throws are too high. Not a quick thinker. However, playing under the PSU offensive scheme no doubt did not help him. Conservative at best and lacked imagination.
As an LSU fan I am not counting on him for a thing. Saw him play too many times. No consistency !

While trusting the coaches is normally the right thing to do, I don't see any logical reason why not to question this pickup. First off the coaches aren't 100% infallible. They have made mistakes in the past. Bolden is flat out awful and has proved it on the college level for 2 years at PSU getting beat out by a walk on and walking into PSU's QB situation this year the #3 guy (losing ground, once again behind a walk on). It's not like some high school recruit where you might know what you'll get down the road with development. We know what we're getting with Bolden and the guys in here all telling you that Bolden is awful yet people like you say "Coaches are never wrong" might get a very rude awakening if Mett gets hurt, and we're stuck with Jordan Jefferson part II (even WORSE than JJ, actually) with Bolden getting in there.
Don't say you weren't forewarned.

I've seen it mentioned several times but haven't been able to find clarification.
I couldn't find any official sec documentation (although I think I've found their rules on the net before). Here was one blurb that I found in a article.
quote:
But the programs were also allowed to not count players who signed but failed to qualify academically or didn’t enroll for whatever reason. The SEC clarified Monday that the new rules prevent teams from doing that anymore.
“If a player signs, he counts without regard to whether or not he actually enrolls,” SEC spokesman Charles Bloom said in an e-mail Monday. “

Why wouldn't Rivers play if Mett gets hurt? If he isn't good enough to beat out Bolden what are you saying about him?

Thanks Fore, do you have a link to the article? I just want to see the context.

i'm not even responding to your posts... you shouldn't even be allowed to post here anymore... i'm very surprised you weren't banned for the bullshite you were posting late last night... you should be ashamed of yourself for bashing a college student who is obviously interested in attending LSU... hate message after hate message was all you were spewing and it was embarrassing...
i work in a place that people from all over the country.. sometimes they refer to LSU fans in a negative light, and people like you are the first ones i think about... you're a damn abortion of a sports fan

ok, i'll give you a real response....Was the coaches' game plan for the NC game w/o flaw? Was there any room for criticism w/ that coaching decision? Les said that if he had a do over, he would not change a thing. W/ 7 wks to prepare, did we really think that jj was going to be able to run the option against bama's d? I don't question everything but if something seems obviously wrong to me, then I am going to question and not follow like a dumb, blind sheep.
