Isn't that what the recruiter is supposed to do? Convince the guy?

No. He is supposed to threaten to kill his family if he doesn't sign with LSU if he can't be convinced. O needs to be fired immediately for not forcing him to LSU by gunpoint.

I guess this will be the spin. The truth is not having a plan has killed us this year and last. Similar to conducting zero interviews for OC. DP will mobilize the spin department and we will get fed the new normal

Not wanting complacency/settling for excuses does not make one a drama queen.

How though? Wine and dine them more? Recruit them harder? How does one recruit a kid harder if they’re already getting the red carpet treatment?

You can’t let this keep happening. You close the deal or you have a backup plan.

Obviously they're not doing enough to convince the recruit to come here on an elite defense where you're prime to get PT early. They have one of it not the best DC in the country coaching them.

Other teams are not having this issue in the SEC. Have you looked around the league and paid attention to the recruiting? Some are making it very obvious trenches on both sides are #1 priority before even a QB because without those, doesn't matter if you field elite skill players you're in trouble.

LSU continues to fall further down the list. This is 2-3 years in a row we've struck out on lineman for "next year". That depth is going to punch you in the mouth sooner rather than later. Definitely after this season unless you can get a miracle on a dlineman blowing up early which is hard to do. It's one of the slowest developing positions on the team that's why you take a few every class to keep depth great due to high attrition rates on the busts.

I honestly don’t know shite about recruiting but I do know how to catch fish. O got the “shadow staff” that he wanted if that’s not enough than find these paid “consultants”/fired coaches that Saban has to recruit more kids for certain positions than we are right now. Cast a wider net.

meatball's contract expires this week i believe...

Man, now I know why we whiffed on all those DL prospects this year. They saw that Meatball wasn't extended for 5 more years and didn't want to take the chance.

We better sign Meatball to a 5-year contract - now - and spare no expense. Give him anything he wants. We should start to see immediate commitments for 2020. Glad we caught that before it went any further.

Damn, it's so bad that you can't even come up with an excuse for him. Just avoiding it altogether. Can't wait to see Ree try to spin this later. When he gets hammered I'm sure you'll pop up in his defense.

Whiffed on the best DL prospect two out of the last three years. And one NT a year isn't going to cut it.

I wasn't aware that the number 4 recruiting class needed any excuses people are overreacting.

I think fans are justified to call out O considering his background and how he just didn’t bring it this year. (I am by no means calling for his firing- just frustrated). This is the one position he should be killing it on the front lines.

As for meatball he has to be gone right?

Where is the head of the defense, also known as the $2.5M DC, in all this? Where are the DL who should want to play for the guy? Excels at filling all other positions, I find it odd.

The haul next year is going to be exceptional. O has shown that he'll take steps to shore up weak areas. You should have more confidence in the man by now.

What steps has he taken? People have been complaining about the lack of talent on the DL for years. Our OT play has left a ton to be desired.

What steps has O taken to sure up either of those weaknesses?

That's the spirit. As long as he tried his best then he's above criticism. What a low bar some of you have set.
