I'm guessing he's had some pretty good coaching up his entire life about getting the ball out properly
I’m probably late on the realization of this but I was looking up Doug Nuss and found out that Scott Linehan was his OC in college at Idaho and then again they worked together at Dallas. I thought I remembered some sort of connection but didn’t realize the connection was that longstanding. If Linehan works out then I doubt we have to worry about Garrett not being a fit in this offense.

Josh Booty was #1 or 2 overall in the country, actually rated higher than Payton Manning by many services like Max Emfinger or Athlons or Lindys. Yes I know he played baseball for several years.
There was no recruiting rankings in the 70s but Bert Jones and Terry Bradshaw (who signed and enrolled very briefly) were at least on a relative scale in the vicinity of Russell and Perriloux above any others. Mike Miley would have had an offer to any program not running the wishbone as well.

Yep, a better thrower than Joe in HS
Uhm...wrong. Joe hit 72 percent of his passes in high school.

Nussmeier is an undersized 6’2 182 Pro Style QB and a S&C project.
Joe was 6’3 & 215 Dual Threat QB coming out and much bigger with a 45 yard arm that grew to 55 with special lower body practice techniques.
They share a lot of similarities being kids from professionals (coaches, players).
Nussmeier will be a good QB after a couple years development behind Myles
