TAMU is going to get a couple this year, but that's because there are so many good kids and LSU simply cant sign everyone.

They are gonna concentrate on TX first and foremost as they want all the in-state kids they can get to keep the spotlight of the Longhorns and their shiny new HC.

Brandon Mitchell is Baudoin's cousin and current HS FB coach. He is definitely in this kid's ear. Just depends if Brandon's opinion has more to do with his loyalty to A&M or Bill Johnson (LSU staff) who helped save Mitchell's life and got him into coaching.

$o I’m not $ure, but maybe it rhyme$ with honey? Very deep pocketed oil tycoons needing to justify the Jimbo investment. Nice job Mr. Woodard.

Mike Sherman (then A&M HC) and Bill Johnson DL coach recruited Mitchell and visited with him during a track meet. Both were so impressed with Mitchell's raw talent and explosiveness, he was offered on the spot even though A&M only had 8 scholarships available. Mitchell never participated in track & field until he was in the 9th grade. He won the State Championship in discus 3 years, shotput 3 years, and javelin 1 year.

After his college days at A&M, Mitchell was drafted in the 2nd rd. and spent 8 yrs in the NFL, New England (SB Champion) and Seattle. He became addicted to drugs and alcohol and moved back home to Abbeville where he was known as the biggest drug dealer in town. He lost everything and was even homeless at one time. Mitchell soon realized he would either spent the rest of his life in jail or end up dead. He reflected on his past and reached out to the coaches who meant so much to him.

Johnson was coaching for the Saints and Brandon called him asking for support. Johnson welcomed Brandon with open arms and never judged him. In fact, Johnson encouraged Brandon to get into the coaching profession where he could make an impact on young men's lives. Brandon has publicly acknowledged that the people who helped save his life were Bill Johnson and several of his former Aggie teammates.

If he’s 265 right now he is not a DE in the future.

Eh, 265lbs is nowhere near too heavy to play DE in a 4-3 or 3-4. DE's in the NFL are at least 280lbs+ typically. People like BJ Ojulari at 235-240lns will be LB's in the NFL, no way that a guy weighing 235-240lbs plays a full time DE position at the next level.

Guys Ojulari's size will be OLB's in the NFL.

Not all de's are 280 in the nfl.

It's not the old days where they are all 280-300.

I'd say it's closer to 260-280

Vonn Miller is not a DE, he is an outside linebacker. Jason Pierre-Paul is around 280-285Lbs and is an every down DE.

In college you can get away with guys playing DE that are only 240-250lbs, but they will either have to gain a lot of weight to play DE in the NFL or they will move to outside linebackers.

The difference is that in the NFL the DE position is not just purely a pass rusher only position. You need to have the size to hold up against the run in the NFL, or you become a passing down only situational pass rusher. Guys who are situational pass rushers can make a career of that, but guys that can hold up against the run, and can generate a pass rush will make bigger $$$ than one dimensional players.

The exception to that are pass rushers that generate at least 10+ sacks consistently every single year. There arent many of those guys that can maintain getting 10+sacks for 5-10 yrs straight in the NFL. The best of the situational pass rusher types end up wearing gold jackets by the time their career is done normally, and there isn't very many of them.
