Notes from M. Detillier's weekly AFR interviewPosted by dwright369 on 2/19/21 at 4:56 am

Listening to Mike Detillier's weekly interview on "After Further Review" w/ Matt Moscona, he offered some interesting thoughts on the 2022 recruiting class as follows:
-While LSU will continue to recruit OOS players, Detillier believes the 2022 class will have a much bigger in-state (LA) presence than in recent years. He stated that Louisiana's crop of recruits for 2022 is really good and surprisingly deep at positions like defensive line, defensive back, and even (to a lesser extent) offensive line.
-He estimates that LSU could end up with a 2022 recruiting class consisting of 16-17 in-state (LA) kids. Detillier also noted that he anticipates 'O' will continue having success recruiting beyond Louisiana's borders.
-Besides his evaluation of specific players, he mentioned having already fielded more calls from coaches and assistants than usual (about specific LA prospects) considering how early in the process it is.
In regard to individual players/positions, Detillier mentioned the following:
-He initially singled out the highest rated prospects - Walker Howard (QB - STM) and Will Campbell (OT - Neville).
-At wide receiver (WR), he mentioned Shazz Preston, AJ Johnson, Aaron Anderson, & Decoldest Crawford (hinting at 3 of the 4 as a realistic goal for LSU).
-At running back (RB), he mentioned Le'veon Moss, Trevor Etienne, and Trevonte Citizen (hinting at 2 of the 3 as a realistic goal for LSU).
-Along the defensive line (DL), he mentioned J'mond Tapp, Tygee Hill, Quency Wiggins, Brock Harvey, Maxie Baudoin IV, and Shone Washington.
-In the defensive backfield (DB), Kendrick Law, Laterrance Welch, Jordan Allen, & Jacoby Mathews were the names mentioned.
-Stated that he believes Bo Bordelon plays center or guard at the collegiate level.
Lastly, Detillier speculated that Jimbo & Texas A&M will have a "heavier presence" in Louisiana for class of 2022, as they will try to "put a couple more flags in the ground" by snagging some "big-time" LA kids.

Curious if Bordelon will add 60 lbs to get up to around 310 for - 6-5 center.
Also wonder if Fitzgerald West is able to move to OG since DLine is going to be full this year.
Jacoby is the new top priority even if he is a tweener bt lb and safety.
ETA. This is a great write up. Thank you.

I just watched some footage of Quency Wiggins, and that kid has a hell of a lot of potential. he is listed at 6'7" 265lbs now. The kid is built like Julius Peppers.
He has an official offer from LSU already right? This kid could really develop into a special DE, and we need to sign him up!

Hear this every year and havent taken anyone we really wanted except Jardin Gilbert...and we ended up with the Top 2 safeties in the class otherwise. Maybe Edge Cooper too but that's a bit of a stretch.
Not sure who they have in good favor early on, dont really hear much buzz with any of the states top prospects and A&M.
That all being said; Mathews, Preston, Etienne, Tapp and Washington will be the tough LA kids for us to land. For various reasons...
PReston with his brother at MSU and he hasnt expressed a ton of interest in LSU to start with.
Mathews has kind of let it out the bag multiple times he wants to leave the state and UF has pushed really hard.
Etienne - bro at Clemson and we "Slighted" his brother offering too late.
Washington - he obviously decommitted and word is will be tough to get back
Tapp - supposedly also expressed a lot of interest to leave the state

He isnt even close to qualifying academically. I doubt he gets recruited much. Even when he committed to Alabama their own mods said he's a likely sign and place - or just place in JUCO in today's world.

I think Andre Carter is going to be the "X" factor in DL recruiting. He's going to be an intense, dynamic coach with NFL cred and I suspect kids are going to want to play for him.

UH HUH
Walker is an sTm legacy and definitely NOT LCA, latter day factory...

Of Course Jimbo will steal a few, Coach O will slow play a few guys just like every year and they will get salty and "wanna leave the state" Happens every year, but to be honest, if we can snag at least 5 olineman, I will be happy about that, and it looks like it will happen, maybe even 6

Every school does this. There is no way around it.
When players are slow-playing you, you have to do the same to make the numbers work.

i can't understand the allure of playing and living in College Station. Other than the lax weed testing, what else is there?

TAMU is going to get a couple this year, but that's because there are so many good kids and LSU simply cant sign everyone.
