Can't. But to believe that the players weren't paid is being a bit navie. Also I was just using TAM as an example, definitely not saying they are the only ones.

They were being paid before NIL.

Of course, but now because of NIL, players will have an idea of how much another player is getting paid. It's going to cause problems.

I guess that's another reason Woodward wanted Kelly. Kelly has the maturity to deal with this crap.

When it comes to "locker rooms" I imagine you're specifically talking about athletes that are currently enrolled and in school. Unless they are in the portal, there shouldn't be any contact by any other school. If there is not contact, there is not bidding war. If there is a bidding war, then there is impermissible contact. I bet there is and I also bet the NCAA doesn't do anything about it.
I'm pretty sure any problem would be in their own locker room, My Man.

Have no idea why you say this. Stating a possible problem doesn't mean you want it to happen.

If I'm a linebacker and a fellow linebacker on the team who is playing better than me gets a big NIL deal, that would simply motivate me even more to play better.

Y'all are thinking way too much into this. When you have a good culture around your program, players are happy for each other. You see them celebrate with one another when they win national awards, get drafted, etc.

But now I see the next big problem, the locker room. Professional athletes have pissing matches when they find that a team player gets a bigger cut; so why should college athletes be any different. Good luck dealing with this shite.

And the locker rooms in the pros with good leaders don’t let that stuff get in the way. It won’t be any different in college.

Leaders on the 2019 LSU team wouldn’t have let NIL get in their way.

I've been predicting this since Day 1 of the NIL ruling. There's a reason that $40 million a year NFL QB's and $15 million a year RB's take their offensive lineman to dinner every week during the season and buy the Rolex watches and all kinds of expensive Christmas gifts every year. Good luck getting a college kid to share the wealth.

What I am really curious about is how do these Jr and Srs who have been starters for 2 years feel about incoming Fr who are now making 6 figures

They’ve had back to back top 10 classes before this year bro

difference between a #1 class and a #4 class is huge. TAMU had the #4 ranked class and the same year Bama had the #1. Bama had 10 more 4 star recruits than TAMU, TEN!

Last year LSU had the #3 class with 23 commits. Ohio St had to #2 class with 23 commits. LSU had 16 4 stars to Ohio St's 13, but Ohio St had 7 5 star commits, SEVEN (Bama too). Do you know how much of a difference all those 5 stars make? LSU had 8 5 stars in the last 3 classes, COMBINED!

Do you know LSU didn't have a 5 star on the field for a chunk of 2021?

Think if LSU had healthy Stingley, Ricks, Smith, Emery, Boutte, Brooks, Gilbert, and Ryan on the field all year? Of course we'd still need the defensive change, but my God this would have changed so much just having them out there.

Show me the NIL deals, hoss
Why hasn't LSU jumped to even #2 over the last 5 years when Ed has had 2 double digit win seasons?

Stop playing the fool. They happen to go straight to the top past Bama, UGA, and Ohio St, when the first recruiting season for NIL starts?

Me personally, I'm more worried about too much sharing. Whole damn team getting arrested at block parties and such.

And there's always egos in play... everywhere. It's part of life. Want to get paid like a pro, act like a pro and don't flaunt that shite. Do like the rest of us do and never let anyone see your check stub. And if you're on the other end of that, be a grown man and don't ask. Leave that shite at home.

Again, want big man pay- have big man pants on.

That’s not the point.

Eveey given year the top 5 proves to be interchangeable. It’s not a shock that team 4 can be team 1 the next year. A&M has been trending up even before NIL

All of this is true IMO with the exception of the top 5 being interchangeable - usually 1-2 or 1-3 are clearly separated from the rest.

That said, it’s also true that A&M has the highest rated class in 247’s history. Assuming Perkins signs, they will have signed more 5 star recruits this year than they did in the previous 6 years combined.

The 247 composite isn’t gospel, and it’s certainly possible that the ratings are just oddly skewed this year and A&M is the beneficiary. It’s also possible that they just had a lucky year where they hit on everyone. It’s even possible that Jimbo is somehow just hitting his stride, despite his team’s performance regressing this year.

But it doesn’t seem at least a little coincidental to you that A&M goes from being in the 280-290 range - basically in the middle of that #3-#10 pack - to 329 and the highest rated class ever (LSU has never broken 300) the same year NIL becomes legal?

I’m not one to sit here in speak in absolutes, as in “A&M definitely bought their class.” Maybe they didn’t and it’s just a coincidence. But it seems a little naive to be dismissive of the possibility.

Bingo. To believe their jump to this historic mega class coinciding with NIL is purely coincidence is naive. And props to them for it. Acknowledging this isn’t a slight or a dig at all against A&M, considering the rest of the pack will likely be following their lead from this point on.

Players have obviously been paid forever but the introduction of NIL eliminates the need for discretion, which basically acted as a salary cap. It’s one thing to pick up a player’s lease on his Charger, or help momma pay her bills, but I don’t think the $ being exchanged prior to NIL even comes close to what it does now because their was actually a risk of being caught doing something illegal.

Interchangeable meaning it could be UGA one year, or LSU one year, Ohio st another year. Or Clemson

It has been said numerous times that A&M had spent nearly 30 mil on recruits. So yes that historic #1 class was bought.

Half of those 5 stars would not have committed to A&M if not for the big payout.
