LSU has yet to land a commitment from a quarterback its 2018 recruiting class, but it’s still looking at plenty of options.

The Tigers have zeroed in on a handful of options, most notably a trio of blue-chip prospects currently committed elsewhere. That list begins with Louisiana’s top-ranked quarterback per the 247Sports composite, Justin Rogers, who remains firm in his verbal pledge to TCU. LSU also remains in play for Jarren Williams and Cameron Rising, committed to Kentucky and Texas, respectively.

LSU welcomed 4-star Arkansas dual-threat prospect Gerry Bohanon to campus earlier this month, as well. Bohanon has emerged as the team’s top uncommitted prospect currently on the board.

And now comes one new name to monitor moving forward — James Foster.

Foster, the No. 14-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2018, has been committed to Missouri since April. Nonetheless, schools such as Florida State and Alabama have continued to pursue the Alabama native. You can now add LSU to that list after dialing up communication in the last week, leading to an offer being extended on Wednesday and a visit from area recruiter and recruiting coordinator Tommie Robinson on Thursday.

“I’ve been talking to them for about a week now and they told me that they were going to watch my film as a staff this morning [Wednesday] and they would let me know,” Foster told SEC Country. “They asked for my coach’s number and they gave him a call and they offered me. They’re supposed to come by tomorrow [Thursday].”

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Foster has remained in regular communication with Robinson and coach Ed Orgeron in the last week. The staff did its homework on the Lanier (Ala.) High School standout and was quick to evaluate him and, subsequently, dish out an offer.

Robinson has already indicated he plans on taking an official visit to Baton Rouge and checking into a few details that could determine whether he sticks with Missouri or considers a flip to LSU.

“They asked [my coach] what type of kid I was and said they were very interested in me, so they offered me a scholarship and made it clear that they really want me and they will be down to talk more,” Foster said.

Where does James Foster stand with Missouri now?

Foster gave a verbal pledge to Missouri back in April, but there’s no denying that there’s definitely some suspense involved at this juncture in his recruitment.

Asked about the strength of his commitment to Missouri, Foster declined comment. Twice.

“No comment,” the 3-star quarterback stated.

Foster was more inclined to discuss his newest offer from a different Tigers squad.

The LSU offer has quickly caught Foster’s attention and Baton Rouge should be considered as a likely destination for the Elite 11 finalist.

“I can see myself there. This is huge and it’s a blessing. I can see myself playing at LSU,” Foster said. “My interest is very high. Very high. Just know that I’m very interested.”

It’s interesting to note that Foster, an Alabama native, grew up as a fan of the Bayou Bengals. He’s been drawn to the team since he was a kid.

Whether Foster eventually flips from Missouri to his childhood team remains a question he may move closer to answering when Robinson comes through Lanier High on Thursday and when he makes his official visit to LSU.

“I can see myself there and I’m going to give them an official visit and see how it goes,” he said. “It was a school I always looked at growing up. I’m not sure why, but I’ve just been an LSU guy as a kid. The helmet always kind of made me like them.”

“I need to know more about the quarterback situation and playing time-wise,” Foster added, when asked about his interest level. “I’ll just have to see at a game.”

He said LSU was his dream school? Where did he say that?

All he said was that he followed them and liked their helmets.

Catastrophe syndrome at its finest.

who cares if he comes here often or not? The whole fricking dream school schtick around here isn’t funny and not half as true as the idiots who say it want it to be...

How many commits over the years have, at one point in time, considered LSU their ‘dream school’? I’d guess a lot of them, but you never hear it mentioned

Just another example of TD running shite into the ground

I didn't say it was funny nor do I think it is funny. I was posting that because no one should take that shite as serious as he did because it was an unfunny joke. Calm down.

That 11am kickoff though.

Foster's OV is locked in and he will also be at the LSU-Bama game.

That means plenty of time to get recruits to the "fun" places after the game.

Gerry Bohanon, 2018 4* QB from AR will also [correction] UV to LSU for the uAR game. He did his first OV to uAR this past weekend. uAR has a top QB commit and wants to add Bohanon to their class.

Might he consider doing the same in a class with one of the other QB prosoects, I wonder, such as James Foster here ?

Even if we are successful in attempts to flip Justin Rogers, he most likely will not be ready to compete yet (coming off injury, still rehabbing to a significant degree) and so, might he even consider being part of a 2 QB class, taking a redshirt, and in effect, becoming the 2019 QB for LSU ?

I'd like to see Justin Rogers and Matt Baldwin make UVs this weekend when Gerry Bohanon and James Foster are making their OV/UV...

Might Matt Baldwin consider a greyshirt or walking on to LSU, since both his parents went to LSU ? I know I would if it were me, and I would let my kid do it...

We need to find a way to get multiple QBs to LSU this off season, in order to hedge our QB bets.

Is there not the next Cam Newton or Chad Kelly out there in JUCO land who might be a plug and play starter and winning calibre QB for LSU ?
