This is the Last 3 Matchups between Riverside and St Martins.

This isn't to say Lastie is better than Berry. But we are talking about RB1 nationally playing shitty 1A competition in Louisiana. The 5'5" 150 Lastie is the one putting up actual video game numbers.

I wonder if there is just not much of a gap between RB1 and a kid that might get an FCS or HBCU offer (should be worthy of more), or that maybe Berry's running style and athleticism would be better suited at WR or CB.

2023 Regular Season

Lastie 338-4td
Bery 167- 2td

2023 Quartfinals:

Lastie 219-3td
Berry 99-1td

Last night

Lastie 540yds 9 td
Berry 320yds 5 td

Thanks.

I'm anticipating that Joseph Halm covered it for The Advocate.

About to go check it out. I enjoy reading his work.

Pathetic effort by the St. Martin’s defense

I was there last night. It was even worse in person.

Pretty much every single Riverside run was followed by 2-3 StM defenders laying on the ground and taking 8+ seconds to get up.

Not taking anything from Lastie, he's incredibly shifty and 542 yards is insanity, but those poor kids were completely outclassed.

Ask Frank for a comparison. I trust him. He's never steered LSU wrong at the RB position.

Dedric Lastie is the real deal. Criminal how he doesn't even have a recruit profile on any of the service sites. If he was just 3-5 inches taller, the whole country would be after him.

You may not give a crap about it but universities that do evaluations do. They use camps like these to see how they can translate to the next level. If you're dominating elite competition in camps it probably means you're going to translate well to the next level.

That sounds about right. When Port Sulpher and Boothville-Venice were in that district, that’s how it was for the rest of the teams.

540 yards and 9 touchdowns?! That’s gotta be close to some kind of record.

I don’t know if the metro area record was still Karl Bartholomew’s (Chalmette) 457 from 2001, but for sure it’s gone now

Everyone could see that coming… that’s why Riverside is trying to win a state championship and St Martin’s would be happy to get back to the semifinals… it’s the ultimate team sport

If you're going to make the assertion, let's have some arguments to back it up.

High school stats aren’t a sure fire indicator of future success. It’s a team game after all. As far as talent Berry is in a league of his own which is why every school in the country wants him regardless of what competition he’s played against.

“ LSU really never entered the picture for reasons unknown to Sheppard. “I talked to them a little bit, but I guess they just wanted to go in a different direction,’’ Sheppard said. “I don’t really know (why). There was no offer. Nothing like that.’“
