Pavia, who grew up in Albuquerque, didn't have a single FBS or FCS scholarship offer coming out of high school. Only two Division II schools -- Western Colorado and Western New Mexico -- gave him a chance to play quarterback.

"I just think they were scared of my height," Pavia said. "People like to focus on height, weight and 40-yard dash times. I like to go off film. I move well. I feel like I throw the ball well. I feel like I run well. I just don't have God-given height and weight."

….

Me too, Mr. Pavia. Me too!

That’s what used to happen to Texas… they’d get guys committed as juniors or whatever and then other guys in their state would pass them… Mack Brown got lazy in recruiting

jesus - now Berry is tapped out of his potential and Frank is Mack Brown lazy in recruiting?

Sorry it came across that way. I’ve only meant to infer Sheppard deserves an offer. The thread title was really meant to catch attention. Sorry. I’m a marketer. Can’t help myself.

Well i'll give you credit. It could be 8 years from now and Nate Sheppard could be playing on Sundays and i will think of "armydude" and this thread every time i see him

Hahaha! And likewise, I'm sure if Sheppard becomes a bust for Duke someone on here will resurrect this thread and I'll get crucified

What’s the point in even putting a defense on the field?

I’m more impressed with Berry’s stats against Riverside.

Saw the highlights. Berry’s speed is pretty absurd. Pathetic effort by the St. Martin’s defense, looked like they had no interest in tackling the little RB from Riverside.

540 yards and 9 touchdowns?! That’s gotta be close to some kind of record.

Mandeville keeps answering the call.

Big win last night.

Haven't read the game story yet. Looking forward to it.

Lastie has out played him two games in a row., last year knocking them out of the playoffs. They are district rivals. Not sure why Berry's performance would be more impressive.

Riverside hit them with a running clock. Lastie was 2-3 steps ahead all night

I say that because Riverside has the more athletic defense. Aside from Berry at Safety, St. Martins defense is very slow.

I was there. The game came down to Mandeville converting on 4th down to run out the clock with a little over 1 minute left.

Two times during the game Mandeville was up by 2 touchdown, but Covington would storm back.

It was a good game! They seemed pretty evenly matched. If the meet in the playoffs, I can see the game going the other way.

Sheppard played very well considering the competition. It was obviously his toughest opponent to date, but he still ran for well over 200 yards and scored 2 TDs.

Thanks for the insight.

Sheppard can take over a game, and the QB is great. Is it I Baham (another solid skill player?)?

The Elzy DB for Covington already had a solid reputation as a prospect. From what I gathered from glancing at a few tweets from Jerit Roser, he increased his status last night.

ETA sorry for the off-topic post

Which sets me up to mention Vermilion Catholic 2025 QB Jonathan Dartez, who ran for 371 yards and threw for over 200 with around eight TDs in a win at Riverside the previous week.

That guy has not been stopped.

Coincidentally, I commented Nate Sheppard for Co-Player of the Year under this post/X:
