So sick of this stupid shite. Stop accepting commits from kids having them go through the process of making commitment videos and in Naquans case recruiting for LSU to get other kids in the class and then cutting them this late in the process it’s bullshite.
Good Lord. Get a grip. I'm not sure following recruiting is for you.
You think the coaches give a flying flip if kids make commitment videos? The kids and their families eat that shite up. They love all the attention and notoriety being recruited by big time programs brings.
Everybody involved knows how this works. Sure there can be hurt feelings, but that's true in both sides. Do you really think Naquan Brown's life will be that much different if he comes to LSU or ends up at UVA or UNC or BC or wherever he ends up? It's not like LSU is the only option for the kids we're recruiting.
Nothing is official until they sign and that works both ways. The players can decide to go elsewhere and the coaches can decide they're not good enough to make it in the class. It's really not as big of a deal as some of you make it out to be.

Those weren't last year and neither had anything to do with dropping commitments. Not relevant to this discussion at all. Just an opportunity to take a shot at the staff I guess.
Even the part quoted isn't really the real story. If we had Burns we wouldn't have Mcglothern and still would've taken Evans. I'm all for criticizing when it's warranted but both of these instances are just bending facts in order to take a shot.

What do you expect him to say: “yeah they did, decided I wasn’t good enough” ?

I hate the processing game, but the programs do let the kids act like they are the ones decommiting when it happens.
It’s not lie schools put out a press release announcing a pulled scholarship.

There isnt loyalty when it comes to recruiting. We lost one committed and possibly a home town safety because two receivers that were committed for almost a year decided to de-commit on signing day. Its part of the process. We have been burned by many of players and I am sure we have burned a few. Its part of the recruiting game. You win some, you lose some!!!

I agree. I think they're trying to avoid being in that situation again where they let go of guys they really want because they have to save spots for high demand talent. Guys who no matter what if they want in they're in.

While this is all true, they need to limit the number of casualties. We had more than our share last year and may again this year.

It was done yesterday, hence his initial tweet, confirmed by multiple insiders. This wasnt really all that surprising.
His testing numbers this past January were not good (5.2 40, 197 pounds at 6'1, 26.5" vertical), we still took his commitment, then he didnt play this season, so it was just not a great place to just take a chance on the kid.

frick Burton and Jarrett. Those dudes strung us along for a year only to leave us at the altar on the wedding day. They are Tiger bait now. I still think Boutte will end up being better once we get our QB situation sorted out and replace E and Linehan hopefully in the offseason.
Surtain is kind of similar but he was never committed. It was thought that he was an LSU lock for like a year and half and then on signing day goes to the dark side like a bitch. I hope Bama loses in the playoffs this year and he never wins a ring. frick that guy.

I always assumed he knew, but I'm starting to have my doubts since he has never carried a spot over to the next class.
There is no reason to carry over spots, especially if you have a hole to fill now. Sure, that person you "fill the hole" with may not work out, but the person you sign with the carried over spot may not work out either.

If you process more than 1 or 2 guys, it’s not a great look. We could potentially have 4 this year.

How about balance the two? I'm not saying never sign a transfer or a grad transfer, but I don't think we need to max out every class with them. And I'm not speaking only about not taking transfers. In 2019 they took a guy on signing day that seemed like a total class filler. If we had saved the spot, we could have taken a better prospect last yeah in Burns, Clowney or Lee.
Also, having an extra spot in a recruiting class provides a cushion when trying to juggle the final numbers, so you can maybe hold onto a guy longer. Why wouldn't we want an extra spot this year? We're trying to fit a bunch of high quality guys into the class. It would be a lot easier to manage with an extra space available and we wouldn't risk as much while waiting on guys to announce.

Agreed. Bad look.

I don't like the look either, but I don't know if there's a better way to do it honestly. Coaches obviously like the guys that they offer and accept commitments from. Things just change. And recruits need to be aware of this. If they don't take their commitments, then you could say they're leading them on and kids never know if they will have a spot. It's a numbers game at the end of the day and both sides need to realize that and know that nothing is official until there's ink to paper.
