Who could possibly answer that question?

This has to be in the top three of tired reply’s. Was it funny at some point, yes, but it has ran it’s course and the person posting it is just a tool at this point.

quote:The absolute best base running team I have ever seen. Just a nightmare. They hit if fine, but not raking like some. But god dang, dont let them set foot on first. That is the thing nightmares are made of. My son is a 2027 catcher who held his own in the summer leagues this year. But defending basepath against Barbe required great play by everyone, holding on, varying holds, picks, and quick to the plate. Even then it was tough with their raw speed. Sam Houston and Brother Martin were good on the paths, but nothing compared to Barbe. And of course they have all that speed to defend with too.
Lot of moving runners, bunting, and winning games with pitching and defense.

quote:If you have a real chance to shine, this is tough call for any kid. If you are a role player and just happy to be on the team with no future past LSU, it is a much easier call.....you are either processed or you stay put. The portal has made everything different for even really good players.
think if he made it to LSU that he would stick it out through his entire college career or portal-out if it looked like it might be his junior year before he saw significant PT?

so let me ask you....is Jay going to stick with him through his whole career and not ask him to hit the portal if he isnt ready to step on the field right away?
you have to understand something...the say Jay is recruiting....if you are not ready day 1 or at a minimum day 1 soph year....he is prolly asking you to leave after 2 years. LSU is no longer about developing a kid over a 3-4 year period, none of the big time schools are really.
Im sorry but just the way the game has changed.

I disagree to a certain extent regarding the year 1 or 2 thing. Have to show some type of potential and Jay is willing to keep and work on developing. Guys that come to mind are Frey, Mic Paul, and DJ Primeaux. Also I feel if Neal or Kling wanted to stay then Jay would have been there with open arms to try and develop them into a better player to reach the potential they show.
Now guys who do not show the potential to compete or interest in being there mostly transfer on their own anyway, but I am sure they have a few that Jay has to have a truthful talk about how he thinks they will get the best out of their career and leaving may be the answer.
This will only get tougher in the future with the way the roster will have to be managed moving forward.

i agree.....this wasnt a knock on Jay, its where the game is for the bigtime schools. Just like MLB, they are going to take the best sure things that are ready to play today
thats why the guys question is stupid and shows fundamental lack of understanding of where college baseball is at this point.

exactly.

You’re 51 and don’t know dick about baseball if you don’t know the term “:dirt bag” is one of endearment. Hell LBSU used to have it as their mascot!

With the pac 12 dissolved, the SunBelt is probably the 4th best conference in the country behind the SEC, ACC, and Big 12.

It's in the mix, but doesn't change my statement.
There is a big drop from the SEC to the ACC and Big 12, then a big drop to the rest of the country.
2024 tournament teams (only listing conferences with more than 1 entry)
SEC: 11
ACC: 8
Big 12: 6
Sun Belt: 4
Big Ten: 3
Pac-12: 3
American: 2
Big East: 2
Big West: 2
Conference USA: 2
Missouri Valley: 2
