Can you go deeper into the situation on Tacket Curtis?

In terms of context, all Curtis kids are encouraged to keep their options open until the last second. JT loves the big signing day show in his gym.

Haha I love ya Iota and I agree wholeheartedly with your overall point that people are overreacting to the Matthews news, but it cracks me TF up how everyone on our team/current commit list suddenly becomes the best player in the country as soon as someone (who, just a day ago, we liked even better) decommits.

A "bonafide 3 year starter"? Emery Jones? Look, I **really like** emery jones. But he's not a "bonafide 3 year starter". If he was, he'd be a top 10 recruit in the country. He's great, and he plays a position of desperate need, and I'm fricking STOKED that we've got him on board... but he's not the guy you're now making him out to be. If he was the guy you're making him out to be, he'd be the #2 recruit in the country behind Quinn Ewers.

Bottom line: it's okay to be realistic. Emery Jones isn't La'el collins, and that's okay. He can be an awesome player without being a day-one star (by the way - do you even know how insanely rare it is for a kid to be a legitimate OL starter from day 1 for a program like LSU? That shite just doesn't happen).

I'll take my downvotes now

Yeah, there are not many offensive linemen that can handle Myles Garrett like a rag doll.

Your going off of stars tho buddy. Damien Lewis was a 3 star, Justin Jefferson was a 2 star, honey badger a 3 star. From what I’ve heard show me a 5 star interior lineman better than Emory. Look at the tape. Dudes feet are ridiculous for that size. He’s a two sport athlete and can jump out the gym on the basketball court. 247 has done a terrible job as of late at recruiting rankings. They have gotten lazy. Did you see how much E Jones jumped up in rankings just after one camp. Dude will be a stud

In part I agree with LifeAquatic (does this mean I'm not a real fan? Is he?) because Jones has a bit of work to do. There's some glaring flaws and no, he's not where La'el was coming in, much less when he left.

HOWEVER, here's why I'm just as excited about Jones as you are Stevie...
A) those "flaws" are all coachable.
B) Physically and naturally, the stuff that is hard to coach, he is gifted.
C) I see his ceiling up there in the La'el level.
D) His trajectory in development (the old "work ethic" thing) is that of somebody who will reach that ceiling. That's why the showing at the camp(s)- he's put in a lot of work thus far.

In short all of those in the aggregate indicate he's going to be a very good one. Not to mention he's got the physical ability to play inside or out- every championship team needs that OL who can play anywhere as the season grids everybody down.

You’re right. They already have that kid in the class in Campbell. What’s wrong with Jones being Trae Turner?

Don’t pick and choose and compare every recruit to the best player you can possibly find. There are WAY MORE Emery Jones than there are Collins/Campbell. Sorry if you can’t get excited about solid recruits. That’s a tell-tale sign of star gazing/BAMA fear envy.

Shea also said Shazz's mom called LSU staff and explained to several coaches why they were going to Alabama this weekend. Said she visted all schools except Bama and wanted to do her due diligence.

Hell no not gonna down vote you, we all can have our opinions, gonna disagree with you though. Don’t know if you had chance to see any of his recent work/camp settings, his feet are Elite. He only needs to convert small amounts of bad weight to muscle, word is he is becoming gym rat. Look at older pictures you will see major body changes . As far as the services ranking him-LOL If you take their word over direct quote from Coach Davis in last 2 weeks.

All coaches cringe when a recruit visits another powerhouse. There's much hand wringing and texting.

But also on some level you sort of want them to do it. You want them to either get it on, or off, the table as early as possible so you're not doing the same hand wringing in Nov or Feb.

And with communication like that, prior to the visit and with a very valid reason, you have to both appreciate it and use it (in the sense that you have confirmation of mom's thought process) it doesn't get any better than that even though you don't have control over it.

OP is correct. There are unwritten SEC recruiting rules and always have been.

My dad was a recruiter for a rival SEC school in the 80s, and back then they all knew each other. Some are still around.

When schools coaches get desperate, they often break these unwritten rules, and ignore the warnings and then there is almost always some kinda NCAA investigation soon after. It’s almost like the SEC office calls the NCAA itself and turns them in Coaches usually get fired soon there after, because of shitty season and man did they get a lot of shitty calls that year too.

Op is correct, they have been warned. You only get one warning, let’s all hope they ignore it

I think they haven't bumped him up yet cause of his size.

He is slimming up as we speak. He was bigger then he should be.

I watched the video again with perkins uncle and he wasn't mad at the coaches. He was showing harold on facetime and laughing. The mom was just saying what's up.
