Miami recruiting, DJ Pickett related

Watching this game Miami against Duke when your team is ranked in the top 5 and undefeated and more than half the stadium is empty! Why would any kid want to play there over LSU? Or anywhere in the SEC where even the bad teams fill out the stadium. The game day experience is not even close. With NIL being close to the same I can’t see what the allure is unless you just live south beach

Is he supposed to be at the Bama game?

The allure of Miami is usually the draw. Women, Miami Beach, Lambos, and just the overall Miami vibe is something LSU can’t compete with.
I’ve been to Miami a few times, and I think it’s pretty crappy, but these kids are attracted to what the city has to offer outside of football. In the age of NIL these college athletes can actually live out that lavish lifestyle.
When talking about why recruits/transfers choose Miami over LSU you have to remember it’s not all about the Gameday experience.
If Miami figures out how to be a perennial winner again, it’s going to be tough for anybody to compete.

Yes but Miami is our main competition for him

Miami is only winning this year because of that transfer QB and a weak schedule

Although that has nothing to do with my comment, I don’t really agree with you.
They’ve gotten much better since NIL. That program was in the dumpster for a long time, losing to those same teams on that easy schedule. Now, they are competing for conference titles.

They’re 2023 LSU. Except they don’t have a Nabers and Thomas at WR. Also doesn’t help they have had no bye week

LSUs stadium looks the same at half time.

What you said is true, but the post you responded to was also true. They’ve gotten better, but also only relevant because of their schedule. They are not a very good team.

Not in the 4th quarter of a competitive conference game.

If u think they are undefeated without Cam Ward then u have a tedious grasp of tge current state of college football much less miami’s season

I mean if Miami makes the playoff and offers him a millions more dollars that's two reasons right there

The area around the University of Miami makes the area between I-10 and LSU look desirable. Just saying

Yeah LSU fans stay the entire game huh

I've never been to Miami so I can't speak on it, but I can't imagine that it's that bad for a college kid with a million dollars

I think that’s the point…NIL got them Cam Ward, his asking price was reportedly over $1mil. Unfortunately for them, Mario Cristobal is still their coach.

quote:The thing about Miami is that currently, they are surviving off the transfer portal. They have a few OL from recruiting, the RB Fletcher who has been there for a while and a couple receivers who have been there, but Martinez at RB Ward at QB and another WR and TE are the reason why they are winning. That defense is trash. Duke getting into the 30s is another testament to that on top of the prior games.

Cristobal can talk that big game nonsense, but they are going to look like FSU next year (maybe not as bad though), because they are losing all their top players. This was a "shoot your shot" season, same with Ole Miss, same with FSU last year.
