He's got size for sure, looks like he catches the ball with his hands very well, very fluid runner, looked very athletic, must be physical if he's also a LB. I would just want to see if he can beat man coverage consistently which makes me wish we would have had a chance to see him at a camp.

If nothing else, he looks like he could play a wicked nickel - perhaps even corner.

Anyone else notice when this board finds out a recruit's dad or relative posts here people go out of their way to continually talk about how awesome they are?

Actually I've noticed more of the opposite. The regulars on this board are pretty straight up with a potential player publicizing themselves on this board.

Sign the kid up, if he wants to be at LSU and his family wants him here that says a lot. He's big, and doesn't shy away from contact.

I'll toss in my two cents on Melvin: He is worth an offer.

He catches the ball with an ease and fluidity that you don't see with most high school recruits. For a guy his size, I would have expected to see more balls that utilize his size. Most of it was underneath curls and drag routes with an occasional fly route.

From his defensive film, he is quite physical which is a good sign for his willingness to block as a WR.

As another poster said, the regulars on this board will give an honest opinion.

only one year starting wr will do that....if you aren't on the radar as a sophomore or early junior year, this happens. not sure if he went to camps either.

I was partially judging that on visits from schools like Illinois. Its like he is almost there, but not quite. Just odd that the more local schools not giving him a look. A team like NC State would be an example of a team I would think could show interest at this stage.

He looks like Marques Colston as a WR. He doesn't look like a 4.47 so I'm gonna ask if that was officially laser timed anywhere? His QB can play for sure. He's a football player, but with the WR haul we are bringing in I'm not sure he makes it. Walk on? definitely! I don't think he gets a scholly though. I'm not an expert just my opinion. I think if he put on weight he would be better suited as a TE or H back. Best of luck to the kid and his dad. Hope they make it here.

Ive seen 4 star guys that dont have the highlight tape he has. If you look at his physical traits, he has a great burst off the LOS, he moves piles, and has strong hands. Like other people say he can play either side of the ball depending on team needs. I think this guy needs an offer.

Biggest thing I noticed is that he catches the ball effortlessly and makes his body adjustments to catch and run in a very smooth manner. You rarely ever see that with guys who are new to the WR position. They typically start off fighting the deep balls and have to put effort and focus into ensuring the catches over the middle to the point where their YAC suffers. Not with this guy, which is an indication he is a very good athlete.

I'm sorry but by no means was I trying to step on anyone's toes. We got a lil interest from LSU and I just added my sons highlights. He will be a kid that when he suits up people will be saying "where this boy came from"
I'm just trying to get him more exposure because of politics in high school football he didn't get many catches last year.
Again, I wasn't trying to step on anyone toes. Thanks for all the kind words

You were doing no such thing sir. Heck, we were talking about your son even before you came aboard. Some posters on here you just have to ignore. You are more than welcome here and hope our coaching staff brings your boy to Baton Rouge

Your son looks like a good WR.

Good luck to him no matter where he ends up. I can imagine it would be tough with just one year of highlights.

you weren't. We just wanted your son to have his own thread so attention could be allocated appropriately.

It's nice to have parents and players here who actually want to be here. Thank you for making me notice your son. Hope he gets more interest after this.

Ok can LSU sign this kid now?

He can block, catch, and run good routes.

C'mon Les!
