South Carolina 7'0 center Josh Gray has entered into the portal. He began his college career under Will Wade here at LSU. Has 1 year of eligibility left with a lot of SEC experience. His numbers don't jump off of the paper but it seems like the fanbase is sad to see him go. We could also use another big body down low. Wonder if we reach out.

Richmond transfer Dji Bailey has set up an official visit to LSU next weekend.
6’5 G averaged 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.

He would be another decent addition, but not a guy who will change the direction of the program. He can score a bit, but his offensive advanced analytics aren't particularly good, and he's a solid defender.

Mizzou and Ole Miss are racking up this transfer season.
On paper, LSU's transfer class is decent but a bit underwhelming. CMM has added solid additions, but no one ranked in On3s Top 50 transfers, and it looks like LSU will end up b/w 6-10 in the SEC transfer class rankings. Sears and Carter look to be to starters at positions of need, and, after that, it appears that CMM is betting heavily on his returning players and incoming FR.

I’m hoping for a big with experience. We’re only returning fountain and Reed with considerable gametime experience, miller and chest could be planned for big minutes, but I’m leaning on another preferred walk on at minimum.

I dunno that we need these guards, we are set with 5 pretty useful ones.
we need a big man, a shot blocking rebounding beefy fellow, and that's about it.
5 guards: Carter and sears the vets, VMiller and givens the rookies, and williams the returner. that should be plenty.
should have enough wings and forwards with ward and reed and collins and chest and RMiller and fountain.
need a thick heavy big. that's all.

Part of the reason is because LSU has done a better than average job of retaining their players. There certainly would be a transfer market for guys like Reed, Ward, Williams and others. Plus, LSU has signed 3 HS players, so the the transfer spots are limited.
Some coaches choose to flip their rosters from year to year. Alabama is a team that generally sees a lot of turnover. McMahon seems to have taken more of a build from within approach. That is great for continuity...if it works...but this year has to be the season that approach starts bearing fruit.

I disagree, there just aren't any big men available to us that would be a significant upgrade from what we have currently. If we can only sign one more think we need another experienced wing or 3 guard who can defend the perimeter and score. The idea of a college basketball roster having more fowards than guards is kinda crazy to me. Just think about if we get injured like when we lost Miller and Pinson. You can win without bigs, you cannot win without guards.

I addressed that later in my post,

Now, I do think that strategy is debatable, but maybe CMM has already been told that he has two more years to turn things around.

Other updates:
Jerry Deng commits to FSU
Jason Edwards commits to Vandy
Ezewiro commits to UAB
Toby Okani will likely be taken off the list soon as well. He has been receiving predictions to West Virginia.
Added Dji Bailey (6'5 Richmond Guard/Wing) who is scheduled to visit this weekend.

I agree. I’d rather see LSU take another guard that can contribute than a big who would essentially just be a body. With that said, another guard would need to have some height and length in order to guard multiple positions. Can’t justify adding another Sears type.

I would tend to agree if "being available to us" means someone like Josh Gray, Bradley Ezewiro, or something like that then yes a more versatile and explosive CG/Wing would make more sense to complete the roster.
But if we have a shot at a big like Omoruyi, Aidoo, Goldin, Garrison, maybe even Cisse then the team would be much better off...those guys aren't just a big body - they can rebound, defend the paint, and get some buckets while not being slow cloggers. Even a couple power 4's would be a take in my mind like Awaka from Tenn who projects well with extended minutes and Osobor from Utah State. All of these guys would be an upgrade over Fountain and Chest with more proven experience over a Miller and Collins.

Saint Louis transfer guard Sincere Parker has committed to Will Wade and McNeese, he told @On3sports.
The 6-3 junior averaged nearly 16 PPG this season in only 20 mins per game. Shot 42.6% from three.
No a bad pull for the General!

I doubt he has been given any hardline ultimatums. I think its really just a matter of him approaching program building in the only way he knows how. Years long development. You have to remember, he comes to LSU with zero major-conf. playing and coaching experience. All he knew before coming to LSU was the mid-major model of recruiting second-tier players and gradually developing an experienced team over the course of multiple years. He didn't recruit or coach one-and-done guys, or guys with that mindset.
The transfer rules have now made it where every player is a potential one-and-done (no matter their skill level). However, McMahon is trying to develop a team/program with the mid-major mentality (redshirts, multi-year players slowly getting bigger and bigger roles as their experience increases, etc). Hopefully it works.

It looks like LSU is down to one scholarship but CMM is still actively recruiting the post and combo guard. Does someone else from the current roster walk?

Our insiders haven’t reported on any possible portal entries. Ward, Williams, and Reed all posted videos on social media signaling that they’re staying. Haven’t really heard much from the other guys but until the portal closes on May 1st nothing is set in stone.
It originally looked like we’d take a wing with the last spot with the guys we had reached out to and Okani/ Dji Bailey visiting but we just recently reached out to the center from UTSA today so who knows. Like it’s been said before I think McMahon will put together an NIL package to get another contributor to walk on like Dean did.

Linguard did play at Kansas State with Cam Carter for a year.

Cam Carter, being local and very excited to come here might be the most likely to accept an NIL package instead of a scholly. The in state tuition would have to help..
I am a bit anxious waiting on the Victorius Miller signing announcement. Technically there should be one for Cam and Jordan Sears as well.
