He seems like a good player and piece.... but he doesn't shoot well.
I hope we are still going after some guys that can shoot because we will need more than just Mackinnon

It does seem that way. Long time coming.

He would be a very nice add and bring some much needed defense to the roster.

Love this. Can’t believe we’re finally getting serious about basketball.
Didn’t realize Dupree had been front office for the Bucks. Please God let him help Mcmahon with scheduling. I don’t care about playing top 25 teams, but we can’t have 5-6 teams we play under the NET of 275. You can manipulate the NET so much and we really need to try and do that this season

Hate when wade is brought up 24/7 but manipulating the NET was one thing he did very well with scheduling.

Reading online, seems as though Skillings missed 9 games, had knee surgery, and played through pain this year instead of sitting out and redshirting. Kid sure seems tough as nails

They have got to bring in one or two shooters.

Wade was excellent at scheduling the mid-majors who were likely to be NET boosters. Teams like Liberty, Belmont, E. Tenn. State, Stephen F. Austin (when Underwood was there) or Ohio (when Sears was there). McMahon has just taken the lazy approach of scheduling regional mid-majors without regard for what kind of impact they may or man not have on the NET ratings. Playing two SWAC (or MEAC) teams like LSU did this year is inexcusable. They are NET killers, no matter how bad you beat them.
LSU will play an ACC team on the road.
They will probably play in a Thanksgiving Tournament.
They will play SMU in New Orleans.
They really should try to get a home and home with a Big 12, Big East, or Big 10 opponent. Also, avoid the dredges of the Southland, So Co, or other crappy conferneces

I know I will get ripped probably…but I really think our shooting is fine
We are a long and very athletic team right now. I think Thomas and Mackinnon are good shooters, King launched a ton of 3’s last year. And many were end of shot clock situations. I think those 3 guys are going to be 34-37%. I think Givens is going to play a lot off ball (might be unpopular opinion but I think he can score and McMahon has clearly told him something to keep him). Givens was a distributor and 3-point shooter in HS. He is a good shooter even if he didn’t show it.
Your big men, Robert Miller can shoot. It took him about 3 months to get comfortable, and I think he takes a jump. Jalen Reed can also knock some down.
I think we are going for athletes that can score multiple ways, and are asking Thomas to distribute. Last season between Bailey and Chest and Collins and Fountain…you had black holes.
Nwoko aside, there isn’t a player who can’t shoot. Sutton is your worst shooter but he is capable. This is really going to help our spacing just the THREAT of shooters. As of now, we only have so many minutes to play.

I wont rip you! But like i said in another thread this feels like an early 2000’s Brady team. Length. Athleticism. Decent size. Potentially (hopefully) good defensive and rebounding group. But no real standout shooters. Just a handful of adequate guys. Feels like you have a first weekend NCAAT ceiling. Hopefully McMillan’s numbers get a little better. shite, i’d kill for a CT3 on this squad. Also hopefully the new guys allow for better spacing and functionality of whatever McMahon is trying to do.

I won’t say we are great. I think it is a middle of the road shooting team. But I feel as though we will be MUCH more competitive on the glass and defensively.
And idk what the ceiling is, but we have been a laughing stock, and our own fans are consistently mocking us. Maybe IF the admins show we care about basketball, we go from 3-15 to 1st/2nd round…then players will also notice we are serious. I think 3-15 to a tourney, then bring guys like Miller, Thomas, Givens, Reece,Mosley back…add more portal. You start building. You have to start somewhere and we are starting this year
Florida in 2023-2024 was 24-12 and 11-7 in a mediocre SEC. They brought everyone back and added a couple pieces. I think our goal is slightly less than that, but shows our building blocks

Givens shot 26% from 2 and 24% from 3.
Obviously he was a freshman and will improve but I don't see him playing off ball.

Will he improve ?? Maybe, but not enough to be a serious impact player IMO

To Kentucky. The Wildcats are cleaning up. Dioubate, Lowe and Kam Williams is a nice haul.

Dioubate would be a top tier get for us. could give us minutes at the 3 and 4 spot and probably have a chance at leading us in scoring.

LSU should improve offensively, but the predictive analysis points to LSU being worse defensively. Using this season's advanced analytics and running the numbers gives you a worse defensive team than what LSU had this season. The predictive analysis shows the same when you roll the numbers forward. However, that doesn't include the incoming freshman or any additional portal signings.

Aday Mara is still out there. Why aren’t we throwing the bank at him?
