Which is fine.

But you don't think it hasn't gotten out of hand?

No one enjoyed what we saw last week and it's absolutely understandable that the fallout happened. I was pissed for 3 days.

Then there's composure and perspective that this site never regained. That's unfortunate.

Maybe so, but regardless, how has it effected recruiting?

Especially considering lsu did go 13-1 and won an SEC Championship. The problem you have here is that there are those that are trying to lead a bandwagon of negativity and are cheer leading for program dissension. That is where the line between criticism and blatant disregard for the program you supposedly are a fan of gets crossed.

House of cards.

That thing collapsed and no one is doing anything to pick the cards back up again.

I and I know of countless other athletes (enough to where I'd throw out 90%) will search for themselves on message boards and read shite, good or bad. A lot of times it's a motivation technique but regardless it's seen.

When you consider extended families and friends, I can almost guarantee that nothing on these boards slips by.

Reading something negative about yourself, and especially shite on the level that can be written here, is devastating. It shouldn't be, but it's a simple reality that it is. Anybody who scoffs at that, is simply being obtuse and not realizing they would do and feel the same thing.

OH PLEASE! If a recruit uses this to make a decision, we dont need him.
I don't know. But having every negative details repeated ad nauseum, even if true, certainly can't help. A potential or committed recruit checks out the site and reads post after post about the wheels falling off, the Miles Era is over, "why would a 5 star recruit want to come here?", etc., etc., etc.

That wouldn't create even a little doubt?

You think that if the LSU football team held some type of function open to the public, that hoards of fans would not arrive, all cheering and supporting the team?

That's called damage control. I know some people don't like it and just love watching the anarchy here.....but sometimes, damage control HAS to happen.
The damage was done.

Dude, we have deleted the shite out of threads in the last week. Those BS fight threads never festered on here...some jerkoff started a blog to post that story. I have received a dozen emails linking me to that blog.

We have also suspended a ton of users. That is damage control.

I think the site is fine.

Miles coached the first 13 games brilliantly. Up to that point, he earned his Coach of the Year award. That last game was not good and ranks up there with his worst coaching performances.

People are pissed. You can't control that in the internet age. Whether it is on TD.com, or some other internet site, or on the radio, people have voices...this isn't 1960.

Why didn't you start a thread stating "Bobby Hebert doesn't hurt recruiting? Think again...".

I think that thread has been made many times.

Have you ever made a negative post on TD.com? If you answered "yes, then what makes you exempt from criticism?
I don't think the point is saying you can't make negative posts. I think that it's the sheer volume and accessibility of the TD that makes it more relevant than other team sites and radio shows.

But please tell me how TD.com is hurting recruiting?
I think there are a lot of things these kids take in to consideration when choosing a school. I'm sure they spend a considerable amount of time on the internet looking in to schools. You can't single out TD.Com for having a negative affect on recrutiting, but I do think impressionable teenagers read this site and it can paint the fan base in a positive or negative light. And right now, the fan base is coming off as way over the top with the chicken little syndrome.

Coming from the highest of levels, I think it's something alot of people need to think about.

I've read enough.

People are naive to think that internet fodder doesn't add up somewhere.

the vast majority of negative posts are usually met with severe criticism from other posters, so unless an athlete just dwells on that post without reading anything else, I can't see how they could generalize the entire fanbase as negative

Call LSU and tell them your idea.

In the mean time we need to do what we can here on TD....

I have fallen off the horse.....but I am back on it and will try to do better.

athletes are very insecure in general so one negative comment can outweigh 1000 positive ones.

This. I started a thread telling people to stop attacking LC's character last week, in fear other recruits would see it. I was quickly made aware of the fact that haters, will in fact, hate.

I don't. But it's been a week. Cooling off shouldn't take that long. Like I said, it's a shame that cooler heads haven't prevailed and perspective and logic hasn't (or will never) make a return.
