Imagine the WR recruits reading this board and the Rant and the CONSTANT complaining about the position.

I don't how many times I read "oh, if I were a WR, I wouldn't go to LSU either." "If you're a WR, LSU isn't the place for you." "WR's go to waste at LSU." over and over and over again.

I wonder as well. This board has grown leaps and bounds and I know of what? 4-5 admin and Chicken? To police 25K+ posters? I think Chicken needs to start trusting some other posters and name a few more admins. The amount of people on this board clearly is too much for the current staff. Hell, wasn't there a thread on the OT with porn all over it for quite a while the other day?

right on ! time for td board czar

Please...how exactly is TD.com hurting recruiting? Please give me one example?

Is TD.com to blame for Landon Collins?
Is TD.com to blame for Patrick Miller?
Is TD.com to blame for Gunner Kiel?

If so, please provide proof.

I see what you are saying but lets be real this happens on every message board across the country. Although LSU may be at the top of its game when it comes to bitching this board should not factor into anyones decision on where to attend school. If anything it should give them a better understanding of the love fans have for LSU. Not to mention that when you pay out your arse for tickets, parking, concessions and merchandise you should have some right to voice your opinion.

Once a recruit attends an LSU game they should know if this is the right place for them. Facilities, academics, fans, campus, coaches are the best in the business. If you don't want to compete with NFL athletes for playing time don't come to LSU.

End of story!

I agree people need to chill out. But the biggest problem that TBob created by saying this is that fans from other schools will register as LSU fans on here just to create shite. And I am sure that always happens. What recruits need to understand is they can't take what they read on here to heart, because there may be an underlying motive to someones post. ie... making a rival school look bad.

So now it's the posters fault.

Dear God...

Les Miles treatment of Lee is hurting recruiting.
Les Miles treatment of Jefferson is hurting recruiting.
Les Miles preparation(or lack thereof)in the BCSNCG is hurting recruiting.
Les Miles stubborn arse is hurting recruiting. The man would rather prove a damn point and wreck the damn ship than admit he could POSSIBLY be wrong.

Those things are hurting recruiting!!!!!

Also, there is nothing unique about this LSU message board or its posters. Every major college program has a similar board and has people that react the same way when they see dumb arse behavior by the coaching staff or athletic administration.

Prominent I actually asked you about this the otger day in a thread. I know this site has a negative effect on LSU's image. People who think is all silly and recruites dont read it or take it serious, are retarded. These kids have egos they want to know what people think about them and this site more than any other allows people to say whatever they think. No way that a kid reading how dumb he is on here isnt negatively effected by it. Wouldnt you?

I think the recruiting board should be policed to the point of facism. Perhaps limited by post count, permission, or maybe just locked information update threads. Because seriously what good does it do having a forum for the same thousand panicked comments and questions?

agreed- I just wish the LSU themed boards here were policed heavily. Lots of great stuff gets pushed aside by idiots and doomsayers. OT, MSB- I get those being free for alls.

I could see it hurting recruiting and making Miles' job more difficult having to explain to recruits and their parents that LSU fans are as rabid and emotional as they come and the views expressed on here arent indicitive of the entire fan base nor the coaches or players, but I have a hard time beleiving a kid dropped LSU simply because of a message board.

I would bet around %75 of lsu recruits, parents, and players read these boards though.

this isn't an LSU centric issue. It is the issue at EVERY single major school. It just is.

However, the point can be made that with more policing here, then you can possibly rehab the image of LSU fans. Or at least present a nicer face I guess.

I'm not trying to say anything negative about your site or trying to run it in the ground. Hell, I've been here for 7 years now? If I didn't enjoy it (most of the time), I would have left long ago. So don't take it the wrong way. This thread is aimed at the posters and their attitudes and emotional reactions to the chain of events these last couple of days/week.

But how do you suppose I prove this? You run the site and I don't even think you can prove it. No one can, but to sit here and think that these kids don't read this site is a little naive, isn't it? Can I prove that Gathers was reading this site and that's where he came to his conclusion about calling LSU fans "terrible" and "fake?"

I can't prove that he did come to the conclusion from the fans posting here (or any other board for that matter), but no one can prove that he didn't either.

Point of this thread, is that it's getting out of hand and it got out of hand at a rapid pace. I guess it boils down to tightening the cuffs a little tighter than what we're used to having them.

How can all the negativity help? That should be the question.
Our fanbase, at least on the net/here, appears divided. Thats enough to make any recruit suspect instability in the program.

I know every school has its share of chicken littles, but it seems the catastrophe syndrome is woven into the psyche of LSU fandom.

That is one of the reasons I think the liberty on the site is a good thing. Imagine how devastated a recruit would be if he saw only sunshine pumping on TD, and then got booed in Tiger Stadium. But... but... they were so nice on the internet message board, why did they boo me in real life????!!!?!! It lets the recruits get a taste of the culture.

More, to that point, I routinely hear it said that it is a minority / a very small group of LSU fans (10% was the number posited in this thread) that are bad apples. I tend to think the "minority" is much larger than the fan base wants to admit. yea, there are some good fans, and most of the fans are good people, but there is more than a tiny minority that can get nasty about the players, coaches, etc.

I think this is bogus, IMO. But, let me clarify...

I don't bash recruits on here and will hit the admin button when I see it. I generally give anyone I see doing it a ration of shite too. I also believe TD is unique in its popularity and success as it refers to a free board with roots of origin so closely affiliated to LSU.

However, I've come to the opinion that any person/recruit who reads this board and makes decisions based what is read on here is foolish. I don't care what is said every fanbase has the same amount of idiots as LSU. Recruiting is an up and down business and shite happens. Anyone using the rant to justify a recruiting decision, either way, is weak minded. No balls need not apply. I would like to see a list of recruits whose deceision was based on predominently what was read here.

Show me any free board dealing with college football and I'll show you the retards of a fanbase.

Prom has hit the nail on the head.

The vocal minority is hurting our image.

Our identity as a fanbase is therefore being questioned. We're loud, rowdy fans who know a good deal about the game.

But when that gets lost in the idiotic ravings of a relatively small group of overly-caffeinated mental midgets who live and die with every positive or negative turn, people take notice, and not for the better.

Everybody chill out. We're LSU. We are the best program around. We had a tough "back end" of the season (as Les would say). But this will make us stronger in the long run.

And as far as the recruits go, Collins and Kiel will likely be good players. But to think that their lack here justifies this kind of whining and crying is pure lunacy.

We are great. We are LSU.

As a person in your position, I'm sure you've come accustomed to things like negativity from the fans.

How much of an effect can this sort of thing have on younger kids that haven't had the experience you have?
