At 6'4 225LBS DE/ILB will Patterson contribute this year for us at ILB? I'm hoping so with Alexander and Voorhies having offseason surgeries. We have a plethora of OLB's and DE's. I say he's the perfect size to play ILB at the SEC West level. What do you guys think?

I thought he was going to contribute a while back... I hope all players for LSU do great. Hope he finds his place. Always a great need for depth

Well I hope the best for all the Tigers. MJ is a 5th year senior that has never contributed in a game or been on the field for a crucial snap. If he does anything to help, it would be a great story of perseverance.

A lot of people have the size, but not the speed to play MLB. See DJ Welter

Speed ain't the only thing Welter was lacking.

MJ has never been able to put on the necessary weight to be a DE which is what he was recruited to be. He doesn't have the side to side quickness to be a starting LB. If he had gained 20-25 lbs and kept his rushing speed he could have been a good DE for us, but his body has just never really allowed him to fill out much passed 225 lbs if that.

If he's still just 225 at 6'4", he needs to get a little more bulk to play in the middle IMO.

There have been some mind numbing decisions as far a personnel goes at LSU. DJ Welter as a starter has to be my personal all time bone headed decisions by coaches.

Voorhies will contribute before Patterson.

Damn, recruiting has certainly gotten tougher now that we have to recruit our own current players.

I think he'll have his opportunity this Spring. With Alexander and Voorhies out/limited, he is our second ILB after White (I think they are actually the only two).

He's obviously got to demonstrate that he is a better option than Alexander, but he's also got to stay ahead of Phillips and Taylor who are incoming.

Layton is a walkon, not a scholarship LB.

Lulz

He's only 8 pounds heavier than the safety I created on NCAA 14.
