Ignore him, the guy is an addict trashbag who’s been in and out of rehab his entire life and doesn’t bring anything useful to the board other than being a smug prick to anyone who doesn’t have 100,000 posts. I’ve been reading TD since 2003 and I don’t know when he decided that he’s a “big deal” but he’s been annoying the frick out of me on here for the last few years.
He goes in any thread about recruiting rankings and throws around personal attacks because he thinks he has a personal relationship with one of the recruiting writers, I think maybe Shea Dixon? Either way, the guy is a bitch and his entire purpose on here is letting everyone know that he’s definitely friends with Shea Dixon IRL by purposefully overreacting to any perceived slight on the recruiting industry or their rankings

It’s safe to say that at least 5 of the 9 will be upgraded to 4 stars at some point in the recruiting cycle.

All of this could very well be true. However, you're not going to find many here more qualified than Mr. Clean. No matter personal grudges, the man has been deeper in the industry than all of us short of maybe a few. I'd take his opinion over Shea's if that's better.
Realized you may be talking about someone else. If so I apologize. What I said about Mr. Clean is still true

Our recruiting staff under Kelly has already proven they can identify and prepare guys with raw talent. They’ve earned some benefit of the doubt on this point.

To be fair, I don't really see nearly as much exaggeration of offers as I used to. In the past, more than a few recruits would list offers from Bama, Georgia and Ohio State, and then they would sign with Western Kentucky or Ball State. I don't see that any more, so maybe the recruiting services are doing a better job of confirming offers.

While I do in general agree with your statement, I would say that the coaching and recruiting staffs of the colleges and universities (great programs as you call some of them) see the potential in the players and sometime it takes a while for the "ranking evaluators" at 247, On3, Rivals. etc. to catch up to the professionals.
The football staffs (coaching and recruiting) see a lot more film, have a much deeper vetting process and establish deeper relationships with recruits than the fan-based recruiting services and their "evaluators". Every bit of information that can be obtained on a recruit by a football staff is obtained.
With that said, some staffs are just better at the process than other staffs.

Hell, I watched stamps do a pretty good job on Shelton Sampson who was #1 WR in the country I believe.
