With SaMyah Smith I wonder if there’s a possibility she might come back if she doesn’t get a solid payday somewhere else.

I watched Jacques Doucet’s interview with Adrienne Webb (LSU wbb 2009-2013) the other day. Anyway, they were talking about the current state of NIL, transfer portal, etc…and Doucet brought up Smith’s name. He inferred that bridge was burned, as it related to her returning. He did leave the proverbial “who knows” out there.

Wonder if SMU gets involved. They just "stole" Adia Barnes from Arizona. Smith is local and they could sell her as a building block.

I put it in quotation marks for a reason but they're a lower profile program that hired a coach that's been to a title game. Even if the bloom was off the rose at Zona they'll still sell the hire as a coup.

So this is what I don't understand.........................................Smith's natural position is power forward. She played center out of necessity. Why would she be upset with LSU trying to entice another forward / center out of the portal, when there's actually TWO frontcourt positions open? I can't imagine if she'd stayed she couldn't have negotiated a good NIL package.

It’s simple as she had a nice run in the tourney and wants to “capitalize”. Nothing else matters.And it’s probably not even her but more to do with her parents or agent if she has one.
ETA: LSU not gonna pay her what’s she’s asking for

Janiah Barker (most recently at UCLA) is back in the portal. We recruited her last offseason. Could see her getting another look. We need a couple of bigs.

Pretty sure she dislikes LSU. She's alluded to it in multiple interviews (recently when UCLA beat LSU and while at A&M)

We absolutely need her. We've had a dominant post player each of the last few years. I don't see how we compete without another one this year

That'd be huge, literally. Between Williams, Knox & Koval, it'd be a block party every night. All three know how to consistently use their size defensively (unlike say, ADR & Wolfenbarger).
Not to mention Williams' solid post-moves & mid-range jumper. We'd be set at C & PF.
