Just an awful uninspiring performance, as good as Coffey has been she wasnt very good tonight! You simply can’t pop up with bases loaded and 1 out…bad bad softball …

LSU is #9 in the initial RPI rating.

One spot away from hosting super. Saw where we are #4 in some poll.

A tad bit early for that, yeah?

Yep, just a tiny bit on the early side to talk supers hosting LoL, but then again always fun to project :-). There is ALOTTA shaking out coming as SEC opens up this weekend. This squad won’t get truly tested for a few weeks, although next weekend might be akin to a short pop quiz.
We are playing two more cream puffs this weekend before we start to face a little competition in Kentucky next weekend in the SEC opener. Early outlook guesses thus far
—We should sweep Kentucky series then head to UGA.
—Should at least win 2 of 3 in UGA
—it’s after the UGA series that things start to get interesting in late March and April given South Carolina’s surprising emergence. Following South Carolina April brings Bama, TAMU, TX and Florida. We can start to talk about playoff positioning in earnest in April.

I went up to Bryan for a dedication of the HS softball field for the longtime coach & AD. When I left, I swung by Davis Diamond and caught the last 4 innings of the Florida at A&M game. A&M won 3-2 in bottom of 7th. Both teams looked really good and we have to go to College Station and Austin on back to back weekends in April. I'll be at both and those should be great games with all of the talent that they and us have.

ULL game will be interesting. They appear to kinda suck but lining up against LSU always brings them to life.

What position do the three new players play?

Assume you are referring to the transfers that were added to the team: Jaila Lassiter from Ole Miss (Centerfield), Avery Hodge from OU (Shortstop) and Ashley Vallejo from McNeese State (Pitcher).
Everyone else new to team are freshmen and Torina only plays the pitcher (Jayden Heavener) consistently with the catcher (Jada Phillips) getting a little time during tournament play due to the demands of playing multiple games multiple days.
Lassiter and Hodge are mainstays but it appears Vallejo may be the 5th pitcher in the rotation with Berzon, Heavener, Clopton and even Cassanova looking to be a bit more effective than her at this point.

LSU moves from #9 to #5 in this week's RPI.

No. Next year’s players.

Tuua and Rackley are pitchers and Vasquez is a catcher.

It should be updated now that Beth has 6 of the top 11 players committed for 2026
Who is the guy crying over Beth sabotaging Howard Dobson?
so funny how LSU magically rakes and looks far more disciplined at the plate since he left.

I said she sabotaged Dobson by allowing Leftwich to assist in teaching hitting. Just curious do you think Coach Dobson forgot how to teach hitting when he had Bianka Bell, Landry, Andrews and others? Wonder what changed? Leftwich changed. Hey man I’m excited they are doing well , I’m just as big a fan as you are.. we just disagree and that’s ok…let’s see what they look like in the SEC before we crown them.. the team last yr hit vs non conference teams too.

Dobson is not the only change this year, half the lineup turned over. The success so far this year is less about the hitting coach and more about the athleticism on the field.
Posted on 3/12/25 at 8:07 am to The First Cut
Probably a combination of both right? I still maintain this lineup is less gifted then last yrs ..Pleasants was a AA, Newland and Briggs All Region and All SEC, their replacement won’t be. Edwards is the only 1 that will replace what was there. Coffey in the lineup is huge and their approach at the plate is certainly different than in past yrs. I listened to an interview Torina did with Ragin Cagin podcast guys and she mentioned culture in hitting, that certainly appears to have changed.

I agree with you 100%. Doesn't look that NC State is doing anything special in the ACC the past couple of years.... 0-3 in conference and hitting .232... looks like the real problem moved to the east coast...

That’s fair
