There's a whole other side to this that makes it a win win. If Bama wants Sophser, they will now have to offer the brother, too. They are in a bigger number crunch than we are, so they do that, and they'll have to let some more guys go, and we'd then have 2 open spots they don't have.

You think we’re in the best spot to land him as stands?

As it stands, yes. But Bama can jump right back in the mix with a Rodney offer.

Hope this isn't another Patrick Surtain/Mario Goodrich dilemma.

I hate doing this shite. It's almost never worth it. Plus theres a high chance of Sophser becoming another highly rated DT from LA that busts

Sospher is the #1 ranked DT recruit in the country and #6 ranked national recruit, it is worth the risk!!!

I don't like losing Louisiana players to out-of-state schools, especially to Ala-frickin-bama and especially highly rated players. That being said, I'm not fond of this type recruiting. If the brother was at least a decent project, I'd be okay with it, but when it's one that will never do better than be on the scout team, no. I mean, just because a player is rated a 5 star doesn't mean they will be a college all-American. If Ish flops or doesn't turn into a dominate player, you've just wasted a scholarship by giving one to the brother who won't be much.

Can't lose this kid to Bama (or anyone else in the SECW). That's the bottom line.

It does suck, but it’s a risk you have to take. If Ish went to Bama and became a dominant player, the bitching from our fan base would never end. He’s going to be a force wherever he goes. You can’t teach 6’4 330 that can move like him. He just needs some work on his motor.

So are we quietly recruiting any of their commits just in case they maybe told to look elsewhere

This offer has quite a few gumps in a frenzy.

It’s weird how emotionally invested they get when they think they are getting a blue chip from La.

They could offer them a 0% auto loan with 0 down and No payments for 48 months...

O and LSU made a chess move here. I have no problem with it. If you know what you want/need, do what you need to do and go get it.

I'm just being realistic. Go through the past decorated d linemen from LA. For whatever reason they havent lived up to the hype recently.
I hope he chooses LSU and dominates, but he's not Leonard fournette. Sophsher is not worth 2 scholarship players

I think he is worth 2 schollies, where else are we gonna find a big time DL in this class? We also need to sign him from a PR perspective

Need to show we’ve got the Tangi area under control

You do whatever it takes to get big time lineman in your home state. Where would this team be if we hadn’t gotten Lawrence to stay home?

That's what I'm saying!!! A 5 star player strong arms a team into taking his no talent brother. As soon as things start to go south, pull the scholly and move on.

Optics of losing Sopsher and Emery would be horrendous.

Orgeron had to do this.

You don't know shite about what Orgeron had to do, or better do.
