That's good for headline news, but the bigger issue I have with McMahon is he hasn't proven that he can install an offensive scheme/identity the entire time he's been head coach at LSU. Every team he's had here just run around and jack up bad shots and play iso ball with the occasional screen every now and then. Every time I see LSU play, it looks like rec ball. It doesn't matter who you bring into the program if the person leading it isn't able to coach, install a scheme, and get all the players to buy into playing cohesive team basketball.

Disagree not about McMahon but basketball in general. Basketball more than any other sport is talent over scheme. Good talent will make a average/poor coach look good and poor talent will make a great coach look average/poor most of the time. Get the talent in and the success will most likely follow

Nah, bro. It's not a direct 1:1 correlation to winning. Talent is needed but when you have going against team's with equal or better talent coaching matters. Most of the SEC can easily match whatever talent LSU will bring in.

Yep, so therefore LSU will still probably struggle to beat the upper echelon teams of the SEC because McMahon is a horrible in game coach. I’m really not sure he even knows how to spell adjustments.

Because of the new scholarship rule we get 15 roster spots in total. So assuming no one leaves we could take 5 more:

Guard/wings:
Dedan thomas
Rashad King
Givens
Jalen Reece (Fr)
Mazi Mosely (Fr)

Bigs:
Reed
Nwoko
Rob Miller
Collins
Matt Gilhool (Fr)

We need 3 more good shooters. Dedan won’t get assists unless there are good shooters for him to assist. 1 more shooter can be schemes against. If you have 3 good 3 point shooters, then you can move the ball to beat the defense, otherwise they’ll dare you to shoot. Would’ve been good to get Ward and V Miller back, but hopefully we get even better shooters.

Yeah bro it usually is pretty close to 1:1 with a few exceptions each year. If you look at SEC teams I bet their ranking in overall talent falls extremely to close to their finish in the standings with maybe a couple outliers. Wade wasn't and isn't some great X's and O's coach by college basketball standards, he was a great recruiter and motivator. We were successful during his stint because he brought in top level talent. McNeese was successful because he brought in a lot of talent and NC State will be successful because he will bring in a lot of talent.

At least one. Would be great if the 2nd guy could shoot while bringing more.

Hence why he had so much success from an eventual #1 pick PG in Ja Morant. When you have that much talent at the PG spot, the offense runs itself.

In football its the QB in BB its the point guard,if you don’t have a good one your offense struggles.Just look at the ladies in the tourney they had problems in the sweet 16 and final 8.If its true MMs offense runs through the PGs its obvious why his teams have had problems. His inability to recruit PGs and bigs is why he is losing not his coaching. Many on this board have posted that Oats nor Pearl could win with this roster, you are right. When you lose 1 starter and your team implodes shows the lack of talent and that’s on MM.Hopefully the portal money allows LSU to bring in SEC quality players and add some depth or MM will be gone this time next year.

How many times did Wade’s offense breakdown and we’d end up with our player beating his man one on one to score. Happened all the time. Ty he had multiple players on the floor that could do that so save me your coaching critiques. Talent overcomes coaching every time especially in basketball. And MM beat a sweet 16 team and lost by 2 yo another and played both Auburn and FL tight until late in the game when their talent took over. #1 seeds. So if he can compete with that talent level and suck as a coach I’ll wait to see what he can finally do with an actual experienced PG with size and an upgrade in talent with aldd also Reed coming back.
