After all this smoke and pretty much spelled out for you, you really think he's picking LSU?

im torn, believe it or not there's not much smoke... people blew it out of proportion and it took off from there. I'm just saying... its not over.

There is hope, not much, and that's what we (including me) are clinging to. Nothing wrong with that. If CLM can make a last minute visit, we can cling to our slivers of hope. That's recruiting for you.

LOL @ slackhouse
I think you, me, Medic, Red, and 79 are on same page.
To me it's like leaving the AR game early assuming there's no way LSU pulls it out. Except it's a recruiting game.

I hope we get Hootie. I really do.
But, I think he goes to Alabama. I have no inside information other watching the deicsions of every top recruit over the past 7 years. When Alabama is involved in the mix with LSU, the recruitment plays out a certain way. The only one that I have ever been wrong about was Rueben Randle - and even with that, we had the Deangelo Benton factor to change things up.
If Hootie is coming to LSU, then the paradigm has shifted a bit and perhaps LSU is playing things differently. After a while, though, you start to pick up on the styles of the 2 schools.
When recruiting a Louisiana kid, the Alabama recruit always keeps LSU in the mix until the very last moment. He always has the LSU hat on the table. It always seems like it is 50/50 and you always get conflicting information. He will be leaning LSU for a long time and LSU coaches will think they have him. They give their attention elsewhere. Meanwhile, Alabama is "showing him love" every day. Something changes and he flips but keeps LSU in the mix. Right before the decision, LSU magically appears back in it and it looks like he will pick LSU after all - or information leaks saying that.
Then, he picks Alabama and often says that his mind was made up months before. The whole family is wearing Alabama colors and the Alabama "friends" come out of the woodwork. We find out that we never really had a chance - at least not for the past several months.
That is what I have seen in the past and there seems to be a pattern. I think that Alabama wants it to be a high profile LSU-Alabama battle for Louisiana kids so that public perception moves more and more to Alabama and that kids see other kids choosing Alabama over LSU time and again. It also demoralizes the fanbase.
Yes, I think that Saban is out to weaken the LSU football program any way he can and he proves it every year on the recruiting trail. The Hootie Jones recruitment looks just like the normal Alabama grab.
I hope that I am wrong though. If I am, it will be a good trend breaker.

Cute excuse, but not close to being a difference maker. We could've treated her like a queen (as we should have) and Hootie would still be 100% Bama bound. Great player, sucks to see him go elsewhere.

Eh.
It's been one town in the state of Louisiana that Alabama has gotten their foot into while people act like it's the entire state.

By taking better players? Could it be to make Bama better?
