If this is true ( and I find it hard to believe that it is) then there is really no excuse. Hooties mom should have been in a suite enjoying the game and sipping drinks with umbrellas in it while someone was waiting on her hand and foot. After the game I would have thought that Les Miles would of had a nice dinner with the recruits and their families and had a chance to schmooze them even more. This is very disappointing IF TRUE.
That's why I am not a fan of bringing recruits in for officials on big game weekends and Bama almost never does this if there are options. It's a two edged sword that you can't fully blame the coaches for. They are busy trying to coach up a team to win a big game and there is no way possible to dedicate enough time to planning a game and hosting top prospects on officials at the same time.

Truth. I think it's good for them to see the big game atmosphere, but to have unrealistic expectations (not saying this is the case here) of having the staff hang on their every word is crazy! I don't think thats what happened here, Hootie seems smart enough to realize they had a big game to prep for.

I'm not here to start an argument or say anything about any one particular player. I'm just posting a fact regarding a prospect signing a financial aid agreement.
It is a new rule this year that players can sign an agreement for financial aid with any school they see fit and they can sign them with as many schools as they want.
If a player was to sign an agreement with a school they will have unlimited access to that coaching staff, meaning zero restrictions.
It also means that college coaches can speak about that player publicly. See Georgia and Tennessee regarding a WR from Memphis for reference.
Neither the LSU nor Alabama staff has made a public statement regarding Jones because they can't.
ETA: Happy Thanksgiving.

^^ to elaborate, from my post on the last page
quote:
Just to set the record straight about these financial forms. As of recently, the rules have been re-interpreted. They can now sign financial aid forms as soon as August 1st, instead of waiting til national signing day.
-This is not the same as a letter of intent.
-This doesn't legally bind the player to the school
-It DOES bind the school to providing a scholarship to said player
-If the player signs the financial aid papers, then "the college is no longer restricted by NCAA rules for “unlimited communication” with in-person contact, home visits and phone calls/texts."
-Players can sign papers for more than one school.
You'll notice this year, schools that have received these papers have acted like they are letters of intent, like when LSU tweeted out the welcome to Brandon Harris. (Obviously we know he's a tiger), just using it as an example.
TL;DR - Financial Aid papers bind the school to the player, but not the player to the school, it also relieves restrictions on player-school contact. Players can sign more than one school's papers, but schools who get said papers signed may miss out on using that spot to recruit someone else.

You got me there.
I have zero insight into what he wants.
I do know that the only verified player to have signed an agreement with Alabama is LBer Shaun Dion Hamilton, just like we all know that Harris and Paris have signed one with LSU.
Also, the schools have to submit the paperwork to the NCAA before it becomes official.
As of right now Alabama has not received verified paperwork regarding Hootie. Hence, they cannot comment on him.
ETA: That also means that they have not been able to have unlimited contact with him.

I'm with fanva and tidesaint on this one. If he had signed papers it would be all over the paysites and twitter by now.

C) Frank Wilson
D) Frank Wilson's wife
E) Santa Claus
You sir, can go to hell! Next thing you will be telling us is he is not the Easter Bunny! And that my friend is BS. I met him IRL at the Mall and there was a line of kids to see him.

There's actually some good info in this thread. IF you're willing to do some tea leaf reading.
For example:
We're not sure what paperwork Hootie sent to both Bama and LSU. But it's relatively recent. My tea-leaf reading of that is that he indeed was undecided. Hence, we don't have a CRob or LC situation where they led LSU staff on. Doesn't matter what the paperwork was, only the timing of it.
Combine that with the fact that Hootie Mom is allowing an in-home Sunday, I interpret that as Hottie still being somewhat (how much dunno, my guess is not much) in play.

Miles need to have a come to Jebus meeting on sunday. I will be in prayer

I'm gonna go ahead and predict Hootie to LSU. I have zero sources and zero inside info. This is purely a guess based off of zero evidence and it flies in the face of everything I've heard. We're also gonna get C-Rob on signing day.

Look, Hootie has been recruited by two of the best staffs in college football and will make a decision in 4 days.
No one knows for certain what he will do even though signs have been pointing to Alabama over the past week.
All I'll say is this: I hope both fan bases will respect his decision. You never know what can happen in the future. Case in point with Auburn RB Corey Grant.
He signed with Bama out of high school even though he was from an "Auburn" part of the state. He spent one season in Tuscaloosa then decided he was better off at Auburn. He has been a big part of their resurgence this season.
If the Auburn fans had bashed him based on his initial pick he may not be there today. Just food for thought.

Your delusion is sort of Bamaesque.

So, there's a chance that Landon Collins will come home?

You all get off his arse. Memphis gives insight that MOST people on this site can't give. Is everyone right all the time? No, fact is its 18 year old kids who change their mind every day. I for one appreciate what he brings here.

But but king Memphis said the paperwork was sent to Bama.... this guy is either trolling all his followers on the board, or he's getting terribad top secret info. Either way it has been entertaining.

Big deal?!?! When I was his age I had connections to coaches and players who I played with as well. I knew where those guys who were a year or so younger then me were going to school. Matter of fact, I use to email dandydon a lot back then. He appreciated everything regardless of how old I was at that time.
