That’s awesome @Joaofff! So i had friends over last night to watch the meet (made pastalaya and an awesome king cake type desert) so i wasn’t able to watch the meet as closely as i normally do. Rewatched it tonight on YouTube, big shout out to Dean on beam. She’s looks great. It also pains me to say, but big shout out to Jordyn. Her team is well prepared and their floor rocked! I still think we were the better team last night, but take a bar fall away, and they’re knocking out GA or Bama for that 4th spot in the night session of SECs
And a 9.85 is WAY to low for any Haleigh Bryant vault. Her amplitude and control in the air is unmatched. I was upset with last week’s 9.90. Given it wasn’t perfect this week, but anything lower than a 9.90 ever for her is just criminal. 9.85 is just too low for that vault

I agree about Haleigh’s vault! I think
Unfortunately she is falling prey to the bias (unconscious or not) that judges seem to have against non-yurchenko vaults. Hers is so spectacular though, that I hope over time they get used to It and score it higher, lol

I really enjoy discussing gym stuff with y'all. Its great to see so many people who loves this stuff
With the Georgia meet this coming week, its a BIG opportunity to get kids experience w/ exhibition routines. Arenas I think this is a golden opportunity, if not in the lineup to get in on bars. I think at some point she will take over, her toe point and handstands are certainly going to translate and score well come post season. I'm not sure if she has struggled in practice but she is certainly the most polished among her, Dean and Brock. I know Jay was stressing developing some depth on bars so I don't know what his plans with Arenas is on that event moving forward.
Ballard getting a shot on floor is a big must for me. Lets say her double layout isn't ready, put the double tuck in instead. It pains me to say this but Jordyn was brilliant when it came to Arkansas's floor routines, sometimes less in more, and it showed in their scores. Let Ballard do a routine she can hit and do cleanly. It can score very well. A 9.875 type score is still great, especially when you have batman and robin to end the floor lineup. All LSU needs to do is set the stage well for Kiya and Haleigh to bring it home on floor.

I just rewatched them meet from last night. It’s still bugging me what Kathy said about Christina and her leaps. Highly contemplating calling her out on Twitter about it but at the same time I don’t wanna be that person

I also love talking about gymnastics - especially skills and the technical side.
As for Bart and Kathy, I generally enjoy their commentary. I think your feelings are valid regarding their commentary last night, but I’ll play devil’s advocate for them - for much of the last two years Christina has landed that double lay that way at the beginning of the season because she was not in the best shape endurance wise yet. I think after she walked off the floor (or if you saw her last week, which they might not have), you would have known that was the case. I was surprised at that point they didn’t say something - however, they are not on the floor this year, so they may not have as good of a view of everything going on- for example, if they were focusing in on the next beam routine or floor replays.
Anyway, I do hope it was just a minor stinger get and that Christina will have a baller senior season!

With regard to Kathy Johnson, this commentary just proves that they don’t just look at what is going on in front of them they have a certain opinion of the gymnasts and it often does not change from meet to meet. Same with the judging. I was not in Arkansas either and could clearly see she was in pain. She was crying coming off the floor.
I do believe they try to point out the good things more often than the bad but unfortunately missed on this one.
I hope she’s okay. I believe she is really important to this team for many reasons.

I have to say I felt KJC wasn’t nearly as negative/nitpicky with her commentary Friday night (CDs floor notwithstanding). I was dreading watching the meet when I read that she and Bart were covering, but it was much more fair and pleasant than the last two seasons imo.

Did I see Kennedi Edney at the Arkansas meet? Is she volunteering?

Yes. She's a manager, still in school right now still.
Alyona's sister (Polina) is suppose to be at LSU next year and be involved in some capacity. She will be going to grad school.

Tbh, I prefer Kathy and Bart over Alicia and John. Kathy is very knowledgeable overall. She points out things that a lot of analysts don’t. Now I do think there are times when she does have love fests for some gymnasts. But then I have to remind myself that Kathy is all about form, technique, and presentation. Now Alicia, I honestly hate listening to her. She compares almost all routines to hers. I remember one time she said “oh none of my vaults ever looked like that.” I can’t remember exactly which meet or gymnast it was but it made me cringe.

Kathy IMO does a good job, explaining of where the deductions/flaws are in routines. Its useful especially for people who do not know the sport well. I think she at times get so caught up in it and gets a bit over the top at times. I like Bart, he's a good guy. Last night I thought Kathy was very complimentary of LSU overall outside the Desiderio part, they were literally non stop gushing over Haleigh Bryant. Kathy has always been a sucker for kids with good form and pointed toes.
John R. I like too but I am not a big Alicia fan, and she frankly is tough to listen to at times. She just comes across as arrogant at times
The one commentator I cannot get past is Kelly Garrison from OU. Its like nails on a. chalkboard.

I see they are not deducting for short handstands in the OU vs. Utah meet.

Gymternet will be silent I'm sure
Good news about this past weekend is that gives LSU a very strong road score for RQS. Just keep building, first meet score can get thrown out and upgraded.

Reagan Smith have a tough year so far
This meet is showing that these top teams are all rusty still.

Audrey Davis bars!! Lovely form that’s typical of all WOGA gymnasts.

Yeh - UT and OK looking rustier than last week for sure. They do have some great form on some of their goals though. The scoring is reasonable thus far though, I think.

I wonder what OU does for their training when it comes to bars dismounts because they are always so solid there.
Although Ragan has an Alyona type pike on that DLO, if you noticed
Kennedi Edney had one of the best DLO's in college that I have seen over the years. Pencil straight.

I am so underwhelmed with Utah on floor. I normally like their floor routines. Only one I really liked was Rucker’s, and that was maybe because she used Reagan Campbell’s old floor music.
