LSU going all in on this high school recruiting class according to a source

The reason LSU fans are not hearing much about transfer players coming here is because LSU coaches are currently totally focused on signing top players in this class, and are betting that they can sign them. Can work on transfers later. Was told matter of factly that LSU coaches do not want anything to happen that could scare top recruits away. The implication being LSU coaches are expecting or projecting great news this Wednesday. And the source was Hanny.

Sounds more like that’s just where their focus is before early signing day than any grand expectations of a monster class. You’re always going to prefer a high school kid than a transfer fill a spot.

While I love to hear that, they aren’t going all in on high school DTs, so they should be focused pretty hard on the portal for that.

Your base has to come from recruiting class- BK said it starts with his first freshman class and will then look to portal.

This would only be new to people who never listen to what BK has said all season about his approach. He wants to build the team up by getting HS recruits so they will be fully immersed in the LSU football philosophy and culture. The portal will be used primarily to address gaps and needs that are better filled by experienced players.

They are doing both. Signing your class is first but I can promise you they are working portal guys as well. We have holes only the portal can fill.

I could see them signing at least 30 HS kids this year. Probably half would redshirt
Only 15 HS kids last year so we need to replenish the developmental foundation of the roster. What transfers we take would hopefully be entering their second year of college so the number of kids in that group jumps up a lot
We dont have a bunch of areas where transfers would automatically be starters so worried about how many we can get that recognize they will be backups.
